  • FF Smokey Mountains Back road?

I think I have read of a back road to utilize(to avoid some traffic) when staying at FF Smokey Mountain resort which we are in the middle of June..Is this something I imagined or does someone have some advice on it ..Thanks Tom

Tom, as you exit the resort, instead of going toward Parkway (the main strip connecting Sevierville, Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg) and Governor's Crossing shopping area, head in the opposite direction on the street that passes through the FF/Wyn resort. After a short distance, you'll come to Middle Creek Rd. Turn RIGHT and a couple miles down, you'll pass Dollywood's back entrance (and Splash Country) on your left. I think it's your second light.

If you continue on Middle Creek, you'll reach another set of lights. Turn RIGHT then a quick LEFT (Veteran's Blvd? to Old Mill St?) to reach Patriot Park and an "old mill" shopping area (good restaurant), then out to TL (Traffic Light) #7 in Pigeon Forge.

If you stay on Middle Creek to the very end, you'll get to Dollywood Lane and TL #8, which is only a couple short blocks to Dixie Stampede.

Also, between TL #7 and TL # 10, there is a small back road, parallel to Parkway, called River Road. It's along the river, on the Parkway side, right behind all the businesses along busy Parkway.

So if you're going to Gatlinburg from the resort, go out to Middle Creek and turn RIGHT. Before Patriot Park, turn RIGHT then LEFT into the mill area. Go over the river and immediately turn LEFT on River Road. Follow River Road all the way to the end at TL #10. Turn LEFT on Parkway and after a mile or so, take the "Bypass to Gatlinburg." All of this misses a LOT of Pigeon Forge traffic. HTH! Have a fun stay at FF Smoky Mtns - our favorite!

Now, instead of getting on Middle Creek Rd. off of Collier (the road you turn on going out of the resort)you will get on Veterans Pkwy. (or Blvd, whichever it is called). There is a light there.
