  • Branson Question

I may be coming to Branson in October with a group of 20 - 25 people - some couples, some singles...
I will be staying in a resort but most want to stay in a hotel (IMAGINE!!! )
I recommended the Keeter Center at the college but they are booked for that weekend.
Does anyone else have any hotel recommendations?
    Thanks a million

In real life . . . like on the Branson forum . . . normal people will avoid timeshares like the plague. I have an extremely high end luxury condo for rent on it and can't even get twenty bucks for it for the week. Oh, actally I got a joking twenty buck bid and can't get $21.

Folks will pay much more than for a distressed timeshare rental and stay in a marginal motel, which we have plenty of, instead.

We also have some very nice hotels.

If you want really upscale, the nicest is Chateau on the Lake. Given the economy, there's no telling what kind of deals they may be offering (or not).

Next would be the Hiltons at Branson Landing (Promenade and Convention Center), very upscale in a modern-day setting.

Next probably the Radisson, which is on The Strip next to Andy Williams Moon River Theater.

After that there is a bajillion more in declining quality.

Tell the committee that there is an abundance of lodging in the Branson area, including an abundance of very nice condo lodging in a number of developments offering upscale vacation amenities . . . lake, golf, tennis, swimming, picnicing, playgrounds, meeting rooms, etc.

Tell them we are in the same recession/depression everyone else is, so there is no need to pay top dollar to get top dollar luxury.

Sorta in the middle, nice but not nicest, is a development called Pointe Royale (the dog I have in this fight actually is another place). Better friends from OY headquartered there for a family reunion a couple years ago. They got what normal people would call a duplex and had a dozen people in it. A couple of those would be great. It has golf, indoor/outdoor pools, parks, fishing, tennis, clubhouse, restaurants. It is convenient, next to Fairham and Diamond/Surrey/FallCreek, across from Welk, etc.

They just put a couple million dollars into the golf course, after building a new clubhouse not long ago.

You should be able to get better rates privately than through their rental program, and it is also available through RCI, maybe II.

Branson's Premier Golf Resort - Pointe Royale

We have many condo nightly rental developments.

Branson also has an overabundance of lesser motels, beaucoups lesser motels.

Tell them to google something like Branson vacation condo rentals and start sorting through the thousands. I counted nearly 300 just on VRBO.

            Jim,
I have offered to use my Wyndham points to get enough condos for all of us.
I have found that for the minimum deposit, I can get 2BR condos in Branson.
so my points would stretch far enough to get what we would need.
Many want to stay in a hotel... so I said I would see what I could find out.

My thought was that by paying the RCI exchange fee, it would be cheaper whether they stayed the entire week or not AND they would have space to move around...
            Thanks again..

Many people are afraid of the term timeshare. They envision sleazy salespeople and being locked in a sales presentation. Perhaps if you tell them there will be no sales presentations to attend...

I, personally, would "force" them into timeshare units to make them face their fears!!! They will actually be glad you did - as you said, CHEAPER + more room.

We own an extremely beautiful 2-bedroom unit this week at StoneBridge. Since I could not even get $20 for it on craigslist or the Branson forum, we have been using it . . . going over to putt at LedgeStone and then build a fire in the fireplace, eat dinner and watch a movie or two . . . then come back home for the night.

One night our better friends from OY, also LedgeStone members, joined us, and last night our nephew, his wife and their baby joined us, and then they stayed.

They were glazed and amazed how nice it is, and that I couldn't get anyone to take it, even with it being a little early in the season.

The StoneBridge condos are nicer than anything at PR, and offers better golf, but there's a few loose ends at StoneBridge right now so I couldn't assure a complete vacation experience.

Another middle of the pack golf resort is Holiday Hills.

Nothing wrong with Fairham either, for a place to hang your hat, and it has a decent activities package.
