Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel has issued a new consumer alert against timeshare resellers.. One of his recommendations in the release is... "Get an independent appraisal from a licensed appraiser before agreeing to any resale assistance contract. "
I'm guessing he doesn't realize just how frustrating or costly that process can be for a timeshare owner (try calling a local real estate appraisal company and asking them if they'll appraise your timeshare.. After you explain what a timeshare is- be ready to choke when you hear the fee!)...
I'm also guessing that he doesn't realize that many of the resellers he is warning against use exactly that tactic in their pitch and charge big bucks for a required "appraisal" or "title search"...
Do you think there is a website called "AGForums" or something where they get some of their ideas? Perhaps their aides work with the same PR firm or something.. Just seems funny to see several states AG's making news about the industry all of a sudden.... I hope it helps, but I'm VERY skeptical!
