  • Fairfield Bay, AR

Has anyone been to Fairfield Bay in Arkansas? We are looking at maybe going there the first of August and am trying to find out more details.

Nice lake and golf course(s). Very little else.

      Visited there once

We went there via an RCI Bonus week just after Christmas of 1999. The area seemed rather deserted at the time (Y2K worries, perhaps?). I remember playing miniature golf and I think there was a bowling alley there, too. All of the outdoor pools were closed for the winter and I don't remember an indoor pool being available either. We did a lot of walking as well as just visiting with family members from TX who joined us.

This resort was one of the earlier Fairfield developments. I think Fairfield's original plan was to purchase very large tracts of land and develop resorts that included both timeshares and year-round homes or vacations homes. These areas would be places to get away from the world and enjoy a large number of recreational activities without having to leave the resort community. If you are looking for a place with a lot of tourist shops and attractions, Fairfield Bay is not going to appeal to you. There are a lot of recreational activities available, though (boating, fishing, golf, tennis, mini golf, swimming, hiking, etc.).

I would suggest going to the www.fairfieldresorts.com web site and looking up Fairfield Bay in the resort directory to see if the amenities and activities are to your liking.

Yeah, it seems they tried to do what Cooper did~~~Cherokee Village, Bella Vista, Hot Springs Village, etc.

We stayed there a few years ago (maybe 7 or 8) and had a very nice 2 BR unit along a golf course. Sorry I don't remember the section. There was an outdoor pool near by, but that was all. We had to drive to the office or any place else and it is very hilly. We took a boat ride on the lake and drove up to Mountain Home to look around. There wasn't much close by. There seemed to be different condo units scattered around, and none to close to us.
I felt the whole thing was rather remote. But that is JMHO.
