My mom and sister are coming to visit me for a few days. Mom is 88 and uses a walker. I know she wants to go to Savannah. I would like to take her to a nice restaurant for lunch. She needs a place with a lot of light to read the menu. She can walk up some steps and a little distance. What restaurants and sites would you recommend?

Mrs., Wilkes Boarding house has ground floor entry and give assistance to handicapped. The food is awesome 17.00 for 25 items family style and really good.
Savannah has a bus service that travels the squares and are handicapped equipped. It's free. Parking is well .not good good.
There is meter parking just have lots of quarters..or park in the garages.

Pat, consider getting her a small portable folding lightweight wheelchair for the day. It would fit in the trunk of your car and then u can go where ever you like. Your community in all likelihood has a "lending pantry" where u can borrow one - ask one of your neighbors.

Check out The Olde Pink House. It's a beautiful historic home (on a gorgeous square) and though it's been several years since I've been there, the reviews are still excellent - it is among Savannah's "top 10" on Tripadvisor. It claims to be "wheelchair accessible," but I would call to ask about specific needs. They don't appear to have a website. Dinner is expensive, but I would expect lunch to be more reasonable.

Originally posted by Pat HWe went to the Olde Pink House for lunch on Saturday. We had a wonderful lunch. We did make reservations but didn't need them since it was only half full. The food was very good and the waiter was very attentive. I loved the old rooms and decor. Thanks for all the help.
