  • Hilton Head, please help me choose resort...

We are most likely going to go to HH first week of April 2007.
We would like to stay at one of the plantations and will trade RCI points. We enjoy quiet surroundings, would like to be able to walk to the beach (and ride bikes). DH is an avid tennis player and loves HH, but we haven't been there in years... It will most likely be 6 of us: 2 kids (6 and 12), myself and husband and our parents.

Here are the resorts I am able to see for the week we will travel:
    CORAL SANDS RESORT
    CORAL REEF
    ISLAND LINKS BY CORAL RESORTS
    Brigantine Quarters
    Harbourside III
    Southwind II
    The Carolina Club
    Island Links Resort
    Spinnaker at Shipyard
    PORT O'CALL
    THE VILLAGE AT PALMETTO DUNES

So, taking into consideration preference for "plantation" setting, preferably heated swimming pool, tennis facilities and overall good quality, which one would you pick?
Thank you for all your help!

I have stayed at Port a call. Very nice if you can snag a 3 bedroom villa. I just went last year and my favorite place was Ocean Palms which in a Plantation and is owned by Westin resorts. Very elegant furnishings and it is like a bird sanctuary around there lake. BTW there are gators in the lake as well in both resorts.

            Dorota,
I will be in a 3 BR at POC week of June 24. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask away!
I think you will be pleased with the location. Shipyard is a lovely plantation with great bike trails. We last stayed at Carolina Club 2 yrs ago. (also 3BR, very nice and since refurbished). My two kids were 11+13 and rode all over.
I decided if we went back to try for POC as it is closest to the beach with a private path/walkway directly there; looks to be about 4 blocks. Also, it is closest to the Crowne Plaza which is the way for all on Shipyard who do not have that private path to enter. That's where the parking lot is and if you have a lot to carry you'll need it. And, besides proximity, the standalone 3BR villas just looked so neat!

This is a little off topic but there was a Hilton Head Chat session last summer and there might be information in there that you want to see to help you plan your trip:
