The Alderwood Group, a timeshare management company from the western US, which mostly handles resorts in Colorado, has purchased Outer Banks Resort Rentals.
OBRR was founded back in the early days of timeshare by Marvin Beard, who ran it with his wife for decades until his health no longer permitted that. During his tenure, it focused entirely on handling resales and rentals. It was then purchased by Rhonda Williams, who added timeshare management to its portfolio. Unless she has added more clients recently, I beleive the only management contract she had was with Hatteras High.
I have used OBRR myself for renting out our week under Rhonda's ownership, and they have been highly effective and reasonable in their fee. I purchased my first three timeshares through them back in the Beard era.
It is sad to see Rhonda go, and it is sad to lose the local focus of this organization. I wish Rhonda had found a local buyer.
It will be interesting to see if they make any headway in timeshare management. A number of resorts seem happy with self management. Three, Outer Banks Beach Club I and II and BIS-Duck seem very happy with SPM, the only national timeshare management company now active on the Outer Banks. Two local management companies also have a foothold, one with two resorts (although they were fired by three others) and the other with one resort.
