Leaf Peeping in the Carolinas or Georgia? Suggestions.

Thinking I want to do a drive to vacation during leaf peeping in either North Carolina or the Sky Valley area of Georgia.
Anybody been during this time and what resorts would you recommend?

Thinking of maybe doing a split stay.
A few days in Sky Valley and then heading to the Smoky Mountains area near Asheville.

I'll probably have to reserve already since I'm going to do an exchange or two.

So any suggestions? Could be either II, RCI or the alternates.
Prefer staying in the valley as don't want any altitude issues.

I own in Sky Valley and have been there, 2 hours out of the airport. IMO if you want Scenery That is where to go, They also have a waterfall on site,
BTW you are in the smokey mtns at sky valley. You are on the border of 3 states, GA,NC,and TN

So what is the name of your resort?
And is it a good place to use as a base to drive for a day trip to Asheville?
