Outer Banks, Repairs to the Wright Memorial Bridge

The North Carolina Department of Transportation will be conducting repairs to the eastbound lane of the US Highway 158 Bridge. One lane will be closed for a 1 mile section. The repairs will take six to 8 weeks and will take place on Saturdays through Thursdays from 8:00 AM until dusk. The contractor will not be allowed to work on Fridays. Timeshare owners may want to allow some extra time to get to their destinations. I know our family leaves very early in the morning to avoid the 64 and bridge traffic.

That will really create a bottleneck for those coming from Virginia and points north, where most OBX visitors come from. Too bad they can't wait to January to do the work!
