Our First - Dolphin Cruise - Shelter Cove Harbour
November 10 - Friday Afternoon
Today we went over to Shelter Cove to check out the
Dolphin Cruise that leaves from Dock C across from DVC
The Captain and his father had been out fishing on the
Capt Hook Fishing Boat and was late returning so our boat
The Holiday (80 Foot - 18 year old vessel) did not leave
on it regular schedule (2 PM) Instead we went out at 3 PM
The boat is mostly - open - except for a small center area
where they have a few interior cushion seats & a snack bar
It took about 1 hour to get from Shelter Cove down pass
the new RT 278 Cross Town Toll Bridge (no toll to ride under)
Then pass Sea Pines Light house - We turned around and
headed back - as we were riding back towards Shelter Cove
the sky became cloudy and the partly sunny skies reflecting
on the water was beautiful.. We took over 200 photographs
and made a CD when we got back to The Owners Club at HH
The boat has just over Fifty (50) passengers
The Captain (Ron) and First Match (Thomas)
The cruise took 2 hours and 15 minutes and was really nice
Great for someone who loves birds, dolphins, nature & water
We seen birds, dolphins and pelicans
The homes & boats along the water were beautiful & very expensive
The Capt said one house was recently For Sale for $14 Million Dollars
I would not recommend taking small children on this cruise
There were about six (6) children (under 8 yrs old) on board
After 10 or 15 minutes out on the water they were bored
So they started running around and one fell and hurt himself
(Regular Price $20) Todays Cruise was $18 per person
(There is a $3 off - discount coupon in the local paper)
This was a new experience for us and it was really nice.
Next time I would prefer an air conditioned lunch cruise.
