  • Restaurant Favorites on HH

Will be traveling to HH February 17th for a week at Marriott's Barony Beach Club on an echange and looking for Favorite Restaurant reccommendations. WE enjoy all types of menu's except Sushi, so open to most all. Would like to hear any favorites of anything to do on the Island. We have the 6 days wrapped up with golf, but open to anything else.

    Love to hear from ya.

Here is a link to the popular restaurant guide that one can find in kiosks on the island and at the Welcome Center. Notice the early bird specials where on can dine before 6 or 6:30 for a 3 -4 course meal. So so many places to eat that each trip we try new ones. I have a new list for our October trip.

My favorite is called Santa Fe. I also like the food at the Jazz Corner and love going there for live music. The latter is at Village at Wexford. Santa Fe is in a shopping strip pretty much across the street from that. Just look these places up in the phone book and call for directions, if it's your first time on HHI. That's the best thing, at least until you get oriented to the lay of the land with all the plantations and low-key signage. Have fun!

Rich, My hubby and I will be at the Port O Call at Shipyard Plantation from 2/17-23. My favorite place for an inexpensive breakfast is having the french toast at the Hilton Head Diner. We went twice the last time just for the french toast.

Edited: Also consider buying a few restaurant.com certificates. They are on sale for 50% off right now.

I used restaurant.com certificates for the first time last year. I found that all in all the normal dining guide early bird 12-14 specials with 3-4 courses or free glass of wine, dessert etc were a better deal in the end then the resturant certificates. We went to British Pub,Delvecchios and two others.

There were coupons in the Island Packet for Jazz Corner. I am determined to go there this year. Heard the Deas Guyz are the band to see there.

Thanks to everyone for the great response.

I am familiar with a few of the names I see. I do remember good breakfasts at the Hilton Head diner. We used to stay at the Marriott Fairfield when it was located behind the diner.

Will have to try Redfish. We ate at one in Scottsdale last year and loved it.

Ann Marie..........give us a call at the Barony Beach resort if you want to share an order of French Toast some morning.

For expensive Italian Michael's is excellent (owners and cook are from Philly)

Nothing like starting your day at the Sunrise Cafe and ending it at the Sunset Grille

I'm also headed there this Friday. My favorites include (in no particular order)...

Santa Fe - upscale southwestern fare. A must on just about every one of my visits to HHI.

Charlie's L'etoile Verte - when I want a fancy dinner with a hint of French or Continental style, this is the place. They don't advertise; so don't look for an ad.

Wild Wing Cafe - great wings and other junk food (and a wide selection of beers for those interested) and a fun place to dine. 15-20 or so TV sets showing various sports. Live music some evenings during the summer.

Skillets - I'll match their breakfast fare against any I have had anywhere.

Sunset Grille - not sure if they are open at this time of year. In an unlikely spot (an RV park near the bridge to the mainland), the view of the inland waterway is magnificent and dinner is even better than magnificent.

Just Pasta - a tiny Italian place in Coligny Plaza, the upscale pasta dishes are well worth this trip. Don't try the homemade bread. If you do, you won't be able to stop.

Crane's Tavern - white tablecloths and a formal atmosphere set the stage for great steaks and seafood and a wide-ranging wine list. As for almost all other HHI restaurants, dress casually.

Rich and Dave, we will be there Saturday. How about a TS4M's breakfast at the Hilton Head Diner for some of their french toast? Or somewhere else is cool also. Do either of you plan on playing golf? My hubby is looking for someone to play with. He is not a great player, however does know how to play.
