What is the attraction and what is there to do in and around New Bern, NC?

I have not been to New Bern for over five years ( this is a place for total R & R) there were no major large shopping centers. The Fairfield Resort was average with 2 or 3 golf courses on site.

New Bern has a nice historic district, and the restored colonial governors palace called Tryon Palace. One day, however, and you will have seen it. It is also about a 30 minute drive from the beaches of the Crystal Coast.

We found a lot to do

You can tour the historic city, and driving to the coast one day, driving to other various neat small towns, other days, swim, walk on waterfront.....
