I know, to those who know this is a strange request coming from me, but I would like recommendations for good NC mountain resorts for September.
TIA.

You should try Ziggy's place....that is nearby somewhere isn't it? Then you can just commute to where you need to be.

Gosh, I'd really love to, like to catch up on my voo-doo, but it is not for me.
I am just the trip-planner.

Jim, do you plan on doing any sightseeing? I stayed at Fox Run a couple of years ago. It is a nice resort and worked well for day trips to the Parkway, Chimney Rock, Biltmore Estate, and winery tours. The unit we stayed in was a roomy 2 bdrm tri-level. The only complaint was the mattress. I don't remember if it was to hard, to soft, or worn out but it was bad.
I should have called the front desk to see if there was anything they could do but I didn't.
I like the Fairfields in Sapphire Valley (easy drive to Sylva & the Parkway). I like Sky Valley resort where Big Frank owns (very near lovely town of Highlands NC). I like the Peppertrees 'cause I like those round buildings they have. Those are my faves of all the NC mtn resorts where I've stayed over the years. Have fun Jim!

I agree with Carol concerning Sapphire Valley. It's beautiful and there are many waterfalls in the area. They also have a couple of fantastic golf courses in the area.

I own several units in the Fairfield Mountains complex, which is the complex that includes Foxrun. I have never been there, but I know that there a TON of amenities and activities. I have heard that the Fairfield units are better maintained than the VRI units (which are Foxrun & Fairways of the Mountains.) The Fairfield units have had substantially higher MFs in the past.

I just bought a week at Peppertree Maggie Valley. I've never been there, either, but it sounds pretty nice. They are planning a special assessment, but I think they are in good condition -- they are Gold Crown. If your friends are golfers, Jim, it might be a choice because it offers deeply discounted golf.
She and our (deceased) neighbor/her XSO have/had been longtime RCI members and he had sold timeshares (RCI) here in the Branson area. For his last couple of years he had me do his timeshare stuff online on my computer. Now that he is gone I can't do that any more, and since XSO is extremely computer challenged I can't even get her to tell RCI what needs to be done to let me do it, if she wants me to.
So she just calls me when she wants something, and essentially demands to go to XYZ resort on a certain date because she sees it in the book.
For this trip, after wading through the process with her on the phone a few times, she and her new boyfriend are going to Williamsburg.
Even after all my help, she called my wife back and told her I told her a 2-bedroom was available, but when she called RCI it was not. Well, my week saw a 2-bedroom, but that is an explanation I know will never sink in.
