How is the drive from Hilton Head to Edisto Island and which is the best route. Is it worth the drive to go up and look at the timeshares? We are thinking that we might be interesting in go there sometime in the future and while we are at Hilton Head Island would like to take a look. What about Tybee Island in Ga. I see there is one timeshare there.

We stayed there once when we couldn't get into Hilton Head, but it's VERY quiet. It suited us fine, but might not be for families who like to do a lot. It wasn't warm when we were there for spring break, so we puttered around going to yard sales and the like. Basically just relaxed for a week. We could see the dolphins from our bedroom window at high tide, so that was pretty neat.

As Shiela says, it's nice but quiet. Not worth the drive to check out timeshares, they're nice, if you get an exchange there at a time you can use, do it, you'll enjoy as long as you're not looking for nightlife. I have fond memories of Edisto, as a kid I had a friend with an old beach house there. The parents had the only bedroom and all the kids/friends slept on army bunks on the screened in porch right on the ocean. A hurricane wiped out the old shack and they built a new home there with all the conveniences, I liked the old shack better.... not enough time for all the timeshares ®

Actually, we WERE right on the beach. There wasn't much beach left at high tide, however. I believe the resort was still called Fairfield Ocean Ridge, but it was phase II or something. As stated, most of the resort was quite a distance away. We didn't have any amenities where we were, but the location was still nice.

We LOVE Edisto Island
Just to let everyone know, we absolutely love the Fairfield Ocean Ridge units at Edisto Island and the bay views from the Baypoint building looks and acts and feels like ocean front, even though it may, in actuality be a bay. The sunsets are very nice - everyone comes out to the beach to watch.
Lots of places to walk for our exercise...
yes, it's quiet - more so since the turtules are very carefully watched for
there is a sort of indoor pool - a pool with a "bubble" over it - interesting how that works.
