We just got back a few weeks ago and we ate at Mrs. Wilkes Boardinghouse. We counted 17 vegetable dishes on the table and four meat dishes. The food was delicious. They are open from 11:00 to 2:00. Here's a link to the website:

Mrs Wilkes
3rd vote for Mrs. Wilkes. Remember they serve only lunch and you will have to wait in line, and eat with strangers. It is so very worth the wait and a very unique experience. Plus only $15 per person for adults and maybe $12 for Children.
The Pirates house was just OK. They have torn down about half of it and are rebuilding it. Makes it not quite as authentic (per tour guide) as it used to be. The Capt. Jack that did the Tour when we were there was really great and alot of fun. He could have been a double for Johnny Dep in the movies.

Agree with Mrs. Wilkes-too much food! We arrived at noon and waited for two hours to get in. Lady & Sons was good, but overpriced. They don't accept phone reservations. You must go to the restaurant early the day you want dinner to make a reservation. Kind of arrogant in my opinion. Uncle Bubba's was excellent, and reasonably priced. We also went to a chain called Carraba's (sp?). It was excellent, but I expect you're looking for the "local" places.Give me a place with 4 S's: Sun, sand, surf, & suds-Dale (from Illinois)
