  • Las Vegas still hurting?

Times must still be pretty tough in Las Vegas.

We just received an offer from Wynn in the mail for a free suite at the Encore and a $50 food credit. This came out of the blue because we have never stayed at a Wynn property nor had a player's card from any of their casinos. It was addressed specifically to me. The offer is valid for the next 4 months. We will pass on it but it was interesting that we received it.

I only go once or twice a year and am by no means a big gambler, and I've gotten several offers for free or cheap nights, meal coupons, etc.

You have to understand that this offer is from the most upscale property in Las Vegas and we have never played there.

I get hundreds of offers from others because we play there. We just got an invite for 3 free nights at Caesar's Palace and free premier tickets to the Cher show, That is normal as I am a Diamond Card player at Harrah's. What surprised me was the offer from Wynn for a suite at the Encore as this is a top property and we have not played at any Wynn property.

They must be . . . they're back to trying to promote it as a family destination.

Those days are gone. That was a horrible experiment started in the early 90's and terminated when they finally realized what a mistake it was.

I recently got the same Wynn offer here near Sacramento. Haven't been to LV for 9 years and hardly a gambler. DW doen't care for LV that much to go very often.

Do you ever visit Thunder Valley? We have been to every California Casino near you from Oroville to Jackson and Fresno. We were living in the SF Bay area at the time.

We don't go to Las Vegas very much anymore. We just go for special events. We far prefer our Southern California casinos.
