What time of the year are you going? Where are you staying? Petrified Forest National Park is interesting if you are in based in Sedona or Flagstaff. It's a full day trip from the Phoenix area.

There is downtown Sedona and Oak Creek. You can go to Walnut Canyon and Montezuma's Well and Castle. Thee is also the Northern Arizona Museum of Natural History. You could take a ride on the Grand Canyon Railroad. See Lake Powell; visit the Petrified Forest; spend some time at Sunset Crater.

Here's a link for some ideas:

If you like to hike, you can spend a full week in Sedona hiking. Pink Jeep Tours, Hot Air Balloons, Looking at the stars, shopping, etc.

There are some great ideas here, and here are some links as well

          http://www.timeshareforums.com/forum...ona-links.html

Depending on time of year and your interests, we have lots of things that are appealing. And if you like to shop, and are in the greater PHX area, there are tons of stores, galleries, etc.

Give us a little more info, and you will get tons of answers!

That depends, are you staying at the Grand Canyon or in Sedona?

Katiemack, thank you for posting this again. It's so high on my wish list of what to see next as well as Glacier National Park, if only I could convince my DH. Both areas are in driving distance rather than fly. One day, I hope so I am not giving up yet.

Take a trip up the hill to Jerome, an old mining town. It is a spectacular drive, and there is a very interesting museum there,

itchfeet, if you are referring to the Jerome State Historic Park, that state park is now closed. But Jerome is definitely an interesting old town, with lots of "character" and some fine galleries and stores, eateries.

Yes, the old mining town. We loved the museum. It closed before we had a chance to finish all the exhibits. Definitely on our schedule when we go to Sedona next February.

thanks everyone for all your great ideas!! The grand canyon has been high on my list for the last few years and although hubby has been before I thought he was sooo on board but apparently this will a trip that I "drag" him too! hahaha-- Due to health issues Hiking is not gonna make the list--although a leisurely stroll just might..
I am leaning towards Sedona as it seems like it would be a good point to be able to get to the grand canyon via train or car.

Book one night at the El Tovar at the edge of the Canyon and get up reeeaaal early and see the sunrise over the canyon.

We did this 15 years ago and my kids (24,26) still talk about it.

That is an excellent suggestion! The sunrise experience at GC is truly a memorable one. El Tovar is a great hotel right on the South Rim, and you can enjoy a wonderful dinner and breakfast at the hotel...but be sure to make dinner reservations in advance!
