Sedona Springs Resort?

I am waiting for my deposit to be verified by SFX then I can put in my request for Sedona in 2007. Sedona Springs is a definate possibility. I was on the VRI website and can only find pictures of the rooms which look great can anyone who has stayed there let me know if they have a nice outdoor pool? I will be traveling with teenage girls and a nice pool is a necessity

The resort is great...The pool is not so hot

I have stayed at Sedona Springs and also owned there. The units are huge, beautiful, and would be wonderful with teenagers as there are three bathrooms and there is a lot of privacy.

However, the swimming pool is not the resort's strong suit. I'd say it is below average...and certainly not a pool to get excited about.

Resort sounds great. I am leaning toward that resort due to the rooms. The bathrooms sound great due to the fact with the girls this is their favorite room since life is all about the hair. LOL. But, am leaning toward Arroyo Roble due to location for my husband and I so we can walk into town. But am a little apprehensive of this resort due to reports on Tug of rooms being so dark. Anyone have any thoughts on pools at that resort??

Arroyo Roble is quite popular with folks. As for it being dark, yes, it does have a decor that tends to dark, but the layout is one that offers privacy and the location is pretty convenient to all the tour launchpads, the town shops, and many restaurants.

Sedona Springs has a pool that is on the smaller side, but the guests there can also use the Villas of Sedona pool or Poco Diablo's pool (a short drive away).

The problem with pools in Sedona is the land! A lot of the land is on a hard bedrock of shelf, and to dig for a pool can be quite costly....the land is costly and so a resort is better to spend money on building a unit rather than a mega-pool.

Sedona's beauty is why most folks visit ...there are so many fantastic viewing spots, hiking trails and tours. No one spends a lot of time at the resort.

Sedona Springs vs. Arroyo Roble

I agree with Katiemack's observations, though I have a couple of things to add.

The accomodations at Sedona Springs are probably the largest of any Sedona resort. The high-ceilinged loft unit feels very spacious, and the furnishings are first rate. There is a full-sized pool at the Villas of Sedona right next door (a driveway separates the two properties) and there is also a game room with pool, air hockey, ping-pong, etc. It is about a 5 minute drive to Uptown Sedona where the tourist shops and a number of restaurants are located. But, there are also some nice shops and restaurants near Sedona Springs, as well as supermarkets if you plan some in-house meals.

Arroyo Roble, as some have mentioned, is in a nice location, with some of the units right along Oak Creek. It is close enough to Uptown Sedona that you can walk there. That said, I don't imagine that you will find the Sedona area charms in Uptown, probably a half day browsing in shops and perhaps a restaurant you might enjoy. Most of the better restaurants in Sedona are not located there (Katiemack would be a better source for them). There is one nice new shopping area adjacent to the new Hyatt which has some more interesting shops and galleries, and you can walk there since it is on the edge of Uptown. Tlaquepaque is a pretty series of shops and galleries in the model of an old Spanish or Mexican village comprised of several separated courtyards. You would probably need to drive there from Arroyo Roble. Finally, though, Arroyo Roble's rooms are pretty dark and becoming dated.

In a way, it's a toss-up, but as Katiemack says, it is the outdoor exploring and beauty of the whole area that will be your most memorable experiences of Sedona, not where you stay.

Incidentally, as an aside to Katiemack, I have seen your PM and have tried to respond and I keep getting an error message. Drat! I will keep trying since it would be good to get together when time allows.

Thanks DDI, the added info is great, and encourages me to state bluntly that if I had to choose between Sed Springs or Arroyo Roble, I would choose Sed Springs hands down. I don't want to incur the wrath of all the folks who just adore AR...it is a great resort in its own right. But personally, I prefer the location of Sedona Springs, and I prefer the access it offers to the other two resorts. They have a great staff working there too!

Well SFX just came through for me with Sedona Springs for 4th of July in 2007! Sounds like I landed a great resort, looking forward to seeing the area sounds beautiful from what I'm reading so far. This is my first time dealing with SFX and they have been great. Used a bonus week.
