Which Las Vegas Timeshares would you recommend for grandparents and their preteen grandchildren? The timeframe would be early summer.

HGVC LV Strip isn't bad if you're exchanging through RCI. Nice resort with good pools. The HGVC Flamingo has a better location but I'm not so sure it'd be my choice with pre-teens.

Tahiti Village would probably be my first choice with pre-teen kids if I'm using Interval International. Newer resort with nice pools. Again it's a little ways away from the action but, with kids, that might be prefered.

There was a time when Vegas was trying very hard to promote itself as a "family" destination. My friends visited last year and said they didn't think it was an appropriate place for a family with small children. Does anyone who goes there have any input?

I think different people have different expectations, but Vegas is not a place I'd bring my kids personally. They did try the family-friendly approach, and have pretty much given up, as far as I know, but I haven't been in a while now.

If you're looking in the Southwest generally, Tahoe might be a good choice. Lots of resorts in the area, not a super difficult trade, very pretty. Maybe not quite enough to do, but there should be a reasonable selection of stuff.

I was just there in Feb and I wouldn't take my children there. It is a very adult place. It seems to those who haven't been there, that it may be really fun for the family. This was my first trip and I can tell you, I was surprised at the stuff that was going on on the strip. I never realized that so much was legal there. Nothing more distasteful than to hear a prostitute make her plans for the evening! AND I was just walking down the strip with several friends in the early evening!

Very interesting to hear! My husband and I have never been to LV, and had been thinking of taking a family trip there to one of the resorts with a good pool, like Tahiti Village. I thought LV was supposed to be more family friendly now. But we are pretty conservative, and try to limit what our little ones are exposed to, so I'm glad I've gotten the warning here.

Las Vegas started catering to families in the early 90's. They abandoned this a few years ago when they realized that it was a stupid idea. The Monarch Cancun timeshare resort would be a good choice. We have stayed there a few times. It is about 4 miles south of the strip on Las Vegas Blvd. The Cancun has huge swimming pools with large slides. It is close to the Southpointe which has a movie theater and bowling alley. The kids will not be exposed to any of the adult stuff. If you visit the strip during the day, it will be OK. It is not really that bad. Visiting City Center, the Bellagio, and some of the other luxury casinos is an amazing experience. My favorite timeshare in Las Vegas is HGVC/Flamingo where we have stayed several times but it is not too great for kids.

The Grandview is further south down Las Vegas Blvd. It has lots of on site activities and you don't have to see the strip advertisements as much. It is, however, across the street from the Southpoint Casino.

This thread is old...but in case anyone still wants tips for family places in Las Vegas.....I recommend the South Strip. Tahiti Village was such a blast...my kids just loved it. There is no smoking except in certain areas...they have beach pools (both of my kids spent hours building sand castles) and a lazy river. This is very far from the bad parts of the strip...you will have no problems. Also, the Grandview, the Worldmark, the Cancun are down here as well. We took the kids to Circus Circus, the Mandalay Bay Shark Exhibit and a few other places. You can do family....but just avoid walking down the strip and be careful about the insides of Casinos.
