My thoughts and sympathies are with him and his loved ones who will be left with so many questions.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

        Hits close to home.

Twenty years ago one of my closest friends jumped off a bridge. I wound up being the one who broke the news to his wife and supported her while she broke the news to their children (5 and 8 years old).

One of the most difficult days of my life.

        “You shouldn't wear that body.”

So strange that he would leave his dog in the car and the engine running ... Obviously not in his right mind. But it makes it seem like a sudden desperate idea rather than a planned act.

The unanswered questions will haunt his family for the rest of their lives. My heart goes out to those left behind.

As sad as this is, I don't think you can draw any conclusions that he did this because of desperate times. People have been doing this for as long as there have been bridges to jump off.

You are right, perhaps I drew some conclusion about our times, but I never referred to it as "desperate times"....and, JMHO, anyone who is in so much pain that he feels compelled to kill himself seems to have reached some point of despair. I do not know why the man did this, and I just feel for him and his loved ones.

By the way, this is the second such suicide in the exact spot in a few years.

On a positive note, a police officer successfully counseled a man, and the PO received a commendation it. The PO prevented that man from committing suicide at the bridge in 2009.
