  • Celebrity threatens that David Walley's may be closed down...

    Time-share fight may close Walley's | TahoeDailyTribune.com

Looks like Celebrity is threatening to close the timeshare portion of the property if a special assessment is not approved by the owners..

We drove by there from our resort that was almost full all July 4th week and only spotted about fifteen cars in the parking lots.

We usually stop and have dinner one night there as it has one of the best
dinner restaurants in the area but the resort just looked dead to us. This was a very busy week in Lake Tahoe so there should have been alot of action going on there and it seemed like a ghost town even when returning from Reno that afternoon.

Celebrity, along with others like Festiva and First Resorts is one of those arrogant and abusive management companies that should be avoided like the plague. One thing that jumps out from the aricle is that the HOA did not select Celebrity. Celebrity bought the management contract. No HOA should enter into a management contract that allows existeing management to sell it or transfer it without the approval of the HOA. Sale of management contracts is how some resorts get struck with bad management. The contract should say explicitly that it is not transferable absent the approval of the HOA board.

Why would they plan on building more timeshare units when the current operations are operating at a huge deficit and only 40% of owners are current for 2010?
