  • Ridge Tahoe Naegle question

I'm considering buying a foreclosure at the Ridge Tahoe. Want it for a skiing week every year (or two long weekend I understand). We stayed at the resort earlier this year, so I'm familiar with the resort, but not the Naegle buildings, which look quite nice.

The foreclosure is for a floating week, high season, whatever that means.

I understand that we can lock in a week 24 months in advance. I plan to call the resort sales office to see what their story is on resales, but I'm asking the group as well.

For this resort, how hard is it to get the weeks you want 2 years in advance?

If we want a summer week for a change, is that possible?

If we want to not use our week for some reason, can the resort rent it for us?

Any issues with buying through a route that is not the resort?

Most of the downside reviews I read were just that it is a drive up from the lake. Not an issue for us. We enjoy the mountain and the resort amenities.

    Thanks for your help.

We love the Naegles and have owned two different times over last twenty years.

We just sold our summer unit while up there last year to another owner who like us also owned at the Tower. They bought ours with the Ridge because like us they wanted the deed and not points .

The Ridge is different as are every building there in the seasons and weeks. The Naegles are setup for summer only or winter only or the off season weeks. If you bought a summer unit you have the summer months only and would probably need to exchange for other seasons use. Our Tower has all summer/winter for our use and like I stated each building a little different.

The Ridge now selling points and not deeds on their resales so check if important to you .

We owned two weeks so we did pick our week July 4th every year in building 12 high floor and never had a problem. You pick two years out only if you own two units at the Ridge. This was another reason for us buying the even year Tower in 2006 plus we love the Ridge so this way we could exchange if we wanted on even years and still have our July 4th week.

The Naegles are the best units with the Tower at the Ridge.

What do you mean by selling points instead of deeds? I didn't think they were affiliated with any exchange company. do they have an internal points exchange?

p.s. what did you sell you Naegels for?

Like many resorts now days they have switched to only selling in their point system which gives you points worth days so for many new owners this might be good idea. Points cost more than the deed owners pay on Maintenance fee's each year.
We sold our unit for $2000 to another family that already owned the Tower unit and wanted to have a second unit and wanted the summer Naegles. We only sold the Naegle because our daughter moved off to Texas and the Naegle isn't a lock-off so it was just to large for the two of us.

I'm no expert but feel the point system gives the resort a chance to sell the units that have been returned and make more money then offering the days on the owner bonus time. We get offers all the time to use the bonus time and have many times and let my daughter and her husband go enjoy some time up there.

The Ridge is one of the best run resorts we have ever been around. It is always set for updating different buildings.

Be very careful where you buy your unit because it sounds like someone lying to you if stating the Naegle unit is year round. If your buying through the Ridge resales then it is safe and you are buying points which may very well offer use of the Naegles for any available weeks during the year,I have no idea! Also the Ridge does deal with II for exchanges. Some Naegle owners still with RCI because the Naegles were first units built and back then they joined RCI but as the Tower units were built they went with II. All units are with II except the small few Naegle owners that for some reason never switched over to using II.

Also you will find Holiday ad's even though they just closed their doors this year with false information. Most of the Naegles they list are Blue[slow seasons] or off weeks and many are even or odd years. Then they have high transfer fee's.
