I just reserved Silver Piney Shores, Conroe, TX. Can you tell me anything about this resort. It looks like I have a traditional unit rather than a presidential.

On Lake conroe, lots of local folks on the weekends, minature golf. Units are decorated in a lodge style. It's been years since we stayed there but we were able to take our boat and dock it at the resort. They have a boat ramp and covered slips for smaller boats.

Most likely you have booked a 2 br 6/4 unit which could be a Lodge Unit or a Cabin. I prefer the Lodges over the Cabins. Lodge units have king in master and queen in guest. Lodges are 3 story buildings with most second level units being walk-in from parking lot, no steps. Cabins have 2 queens. Most cabins have no steps or maybe one or two. All units have a jacuzzi. There is an indoor pool, outdoor pool, hot tub, mini-golf, archery area, tennis court, childrens playground, horseback riding, activity center with snack bar and wi-fi, no wi-fi in units, no laundry facility.

Thanks for the information. You included a lot of details. Does the resort have a lake view? There is really no laundry room? That will affect packing.
We will be there for Christmas. Do you know of any Holiday events that you enjoy in Conroe, Houston, Galveston or Kemah?

Dickens on the strand in galveston.... I believe it will be in early December

The Presidential Units are the only ones facing the lake. All the Lodge and Cabins are up the hill so there is no lake view. Only the Presidentials have a washer and dryer in the units. Lodges do not and there is no laundry room at the resort.

Downtown Houston has an outdoor Ice Skating Rink that they set up every year from Thanksgiving to New Years.

There might be some things going on in the Woodlands area which is near Conroe.

Another place you might like to go visit is in Spring. It is called "Old Town Spring" there is lots of shops and interesting area.

If you really want to go further south to Galveston. Moody Gardens is always decorated for the holidays with all their Christmas Lights.

If you go down to Galveston, you might want to plan to stay the night. Moody Gardens can take a full day and plus some.

Galveston also has schlitterbahn that has an indoor waterpark. It is heated and open year round.

Oh yeah, you should know that the lake is extremely low. So low that a lot of docks are now dry docks. I doubt it is possible to get a boat in it. With the extreme drought in Texas, the city had to start pulling water out of the lake at the rate do 4 inches a day (if I remember correctly).
