I found the following ad and am wondering how much is truth or if it is just a scam or lack of knowledge. I have stayed at holiday hills in Branson and really liked it. I live in Texas so if this is a legitimate deal it would be great for my family.

"My Grandmother bought the very first Silverleaf Timeshare that came available. She has now past away and we don't get much of a chance to use it anymore. When we where kids we would go to the resort almost every weekend. The story is that they offered her unlimited nights if she would pay off her timeshare early to help with the construction. This is a two bedroom, two bath unit at the villages. The Villages just put in a new water park. We are also one of the few that are aloud to bring pets because of our deed. They do not allow pets anymore unless it was deeded that way. You can call any of the resorts and make a reservation right away and stay up to 7 days at a time. Then you have to wait 7 days and then you can go back again for another 7 days and so on. We are also tied in with RTI so that you can trade your RED week for thousands of different location thru out the world. Are week is in October so this is a prime time. This week it is not too hot to go out play around the resort but still warm enough to go swimming and boating. Why pay 15,000 to the resort when you can get mine with unlimited stays in any of the Silverleaf Resorts and a great RED week for only $3500.00"

The grammar, construction, obvious errors, and typical timeshare overhype BS do not lend it credence.

As it says, it is a story, none of which could not be possible, but all of which you need to get confirmed, and in writing.

Also, if you look at ebay, you can probably pick up a Silverleaf TS for $1.

As a Silverleaf owner of more than a decade, I can address some points in this story.

We are also one of the few that are aloud to bring pets because of our deed. They do not allow pets anymore unless it was deeded that way. This is true. The older deeds allow pets, the newer ones do not. The pet privilege is one that I do not think transfers to resale. I think it is limited to the original owners.

You can call any of the resorts and make a reservation right away and stay up to 7 days at a time. Then you have to wait 7 days and then you can go back again for another 7 days and so on. This sounds like the old bonus time known as Endless Escapes. Up to 14 days in advance you can go to any Silverleaf resort for up to 6 nights (not 7) based on availability. We just got back from a nice 3 night trip to Timber Creek in DeSoto, Missouri. It is less than an hour from our home so we like to go there for short getaways. It is also true that you have to wait 7 days after checking out to check in on another bonus time stay. If you live in Texas, where there are 4 Silverleaf resorts, you might find bonus time a plus. However, Endless Escapes is not supposed to transfer on resale. (Sometimes it does but usually they catch it.) What you would get is one of the newer forms of Bonus Time may be something like 1-4 nights Mon-Thursday and have to pay a fee for Friday
and Saturday. I'm not sure because I have Endless Escape and don't really
pay attention to the newer types of Bonus Time
        .

I agree that $3500 is too much to pay for Silverleaf resale. They are not found so frequently on Ebay. If you are going to buy Silverleaf, I'd suggest you hold off for a red Presidential at a "destination resort". If you don't know what a destination resort is, check out the silverleafresorts.com website. A Presidential is a newer, more upgraded 2 bedroom unit with washer/dryer, which can be split as a lockoff and deposited as a one bedroom and a studio into RCI. I could spending up to $500 for the "right" unit.

Since this is TonyG's birthday, story is Noah offered him free passage if he would help finish the Ark.

The Silverleaf Bonus Time they are talking about is called Endless Escape and it is 6 nights not 7. This is no longer offered and from what I am hearing it will not transfer anymore on resales. The newer Bonus Time which is 3 nights and there is a charge for Fri and Sat nites also will not transfer anymore on resales. The only time the bonus will transfer is if it is going to a family member. So beware!! As for pets, it seems owners are allowed to bring them but RCI exchanger cannot. Always check with the resort first.

I haven't seem many SL resales on Ebay lately like we use to.

Ya, I like the Bonus Time. We have 3 nights booked for The Villages for the Friday after Thanksgiving after we checkout from Branson on our trip back. We were there at The Villages about a month ago on 5 nights free and a couple weeks before that spent couple free nights in Galveston Seaside. So trying to get our use out of it.

The statement about all ownerships qualify for the bonus time.....that is if you purchase from SL directly as of their new rules for new owners.

Since The Villages is also a HUGE development in Florida, that may be confusing to some.

I'm feeling ok but spent 4 trips to MDAnderson last week. My blood counts are not what they are suppose to be so they are adding a steroid drug to my chemo pill and see how that goes and re-evaluate next month. I had a relasp end of March and indication was the Myeloma was coming back. Went back on chemo for four months, then daily for maintenance with pills. Have to keep on top of it every day.

Word was out at MDA that Andy Williams was there and was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer last month.

We will be heading for Branson on Friday.

Almost thought I was on the wrong forum . . . Andy's been a big topic on another one. Yeah, he won't be onstage this Christmas and around here he is Mr. Christmas.
