I have a friend that is considering going to Sedona from middle to end of June. How is it then? Is it to hot to enjoy hiking etc.?

For me it isn't, but it depends on what your friend considers too hot. It should be in the upper 80s maybe even lower 90s, but it could be as cool as the 60s in the morning. You neeed to remember it is at an elevation of 4000+/- feet and depending on where he is hiking it culd be tree cover or open space.
It should be very dry (I think average rain fall in less than 1/2 inch in June). The most important thing is for him to stay hydrated, especially since it will be dry.

Today, 5 JUN 2014, 95 at 3PM. The sun penetrating hot, 10AM to 5PM. Temperature was 75 at 7AM. It could reach over 100 by end of month. You need to remember it is at an elevation of 4000+/- feet. The air temp. remains the same with or without tree cover.
Even now, to stay hydrated, it is recommended to have a gallon of water per day for each person.Robert
