We are looking to go to Las Vegas over Thanksgiving week, 2013. How is the drive to Zion and Bryce National Parks that time of the year and what could we expect weather wise?

I can tell you when we went into that area in early October, the weather at 8000+ was snow and head gear and winter garb was required. Have an enjoyable trip, just be prepared.
I do not suggest you take any side-trips without letting authorities know. SERIOUSLY, don't allow yourself to be stranded!Robert -
My advice is that in that area, every week the weather is different. We attended the National Rodeo Finals the first week of December a few years ago. We took a 2 day side trip to both parks and the weather and roads were fine. The parks are beautiful that time of year. Just make sure you keep up with the weather. If the weather in Southern Utah is bad, a local side trip to Red Rock Caynon or the Valley of the Fire are interesting. Valley of the Fire was a featured trip on the Live Well Network, Motion show. You can check out episode on Zion and other locations also. We are going to Las Vegas and Brian Head, UT in two weeks and will be visting the parks. Hope you have a great trip. BobComment

Just visited Bryce and Zion this week, let me warn you that the speed limits going to Zion from the south varies from 65 to 45 with little warning sometimes. I let off the gas pedal, but didn't slow fast enough and got stopped, ticketed. We invested in the annual pass and made up the $80 already with plans for Yosemite this Fall with family. Some of the speed limits going on I15 get up to 80mph between St George and Provo in spots.Comment

Thanks for all the information. Will have to watch my lead foot and watch out for speed limit signs. Sounds like an cash cow for some city and/or county in UT.Comment
