A 47-year-old man was found unconscious, and his 8-year-old son was treated for smoke inhalation after an accidental fire started in the kitchen of a southern Nevada timeshare unit. The incident occurred at the Peppermill Palms Resort, which is also known as the Grand Destinations at the Oasis Resort in Mesquite, Nevada. Fire sprinklers doused flames in the third-floor unit before firefighters arrived. The man and boy were taken to Mesa View Regional Hospital. Officials believe than an underlying medical condition may also have impacted the man's condition.
The fire was ruled accidental. Investigators traced it to an unattended pot on the stove, and damage was limited to the stove and kitchen cabinets in the condo.
