  • What is your favorite Vegas resort?

Please share your wisdom about Vegas since it seems many members are heading there lately.

So what is your favorite or least favorite Vegas timeshare or Hotel resort?

I've only stayed at a few myself but so far most of them were great.

Tropicana pre-redo was crappy but now it looks much much improved and so are the prices.

Mandalay Bay one of my favorites but it's gotta be warm enough to use the wave pools and lazy rivers.
The regular tower rooms were fine and the "The Hotel" rooms are more like timeshare units but upscale.

Loved the Marriott Grand Chateau. Great location and the 3 bedrooms are HUGE.
Pool is too small for the resort but I hear they're adding another one.

And just stayed at the HGVC on the strip. A friend stayed at Karen Avenue HGVC.
This was fine for us since we were attending a convention but other than that too far from all the action unless you have a car.
The resort is nice though and had a nice pool but it was in the 40's and 50's so we didn't try the pool.
Downside is the HGVC strip charges for parking. $13 for valet and $8 for self park. Really? In Vegas, land of the free valet?
They don't charge HGVC owners, but RCI exchangers would pay and I imagine Hilton renters too.
I did an RCI exchange but am an HGVC owner so they waived the parking fees. Geez, thanks Hilton. :roll eyes:
Karen Avenue had free self parking. Both resorts have a large parking garage.

I own at Holiday Inn Las Vegas Club, and I like it. They had a shuttle to the strip because it's a bit of a walk, but now that the Linq is in, it is right on the cusp of the action. I haven't stayed there, but have seen the new units and they are nice. Big upgrade from our old Summer Bay on Winnick LOL.
I've stayed at Carriage House. The 1BR units were really nice, the studio not so much. I felt like they rented out rooms to a lot of young people and it got noisy. The pool is small. There are no washer/dryers in the units but there were laundry facilities.
HGVC at the Flamingo had great units - we had a 2BR lock out. Nice deli in the lobby. The pool was small but you could walk over to the Flamingo pool. Great location.
We loved Marriott Grand Chateau. I think this is our favorite of all. The 5th floor pool was done when we went last year. I like the lobby with its high tables to sit. Short walk to everything.
We toured Grandview but did not stay there. The units we saw were beautiful, but even though we always rent a car, it's still too far from the action for our taste.

Wyndham Grand Desert on Harmon is very nice. Pretty close to center strip.

We've only stayed at the Marriott Grand Chateau and the Wyndham Grand Desert. Of the two I like the Marriott better, mostly because of the location. We found when staying at the Grand Desert we ended up taking our car each time we wanted to go to the strip. Sure, we could have probably walked there, but we seem to do enough walking once we're on the strip.

I just got back from Vegas yesterday and the weather was cold but pleasant.
60's in the day 40's at night.
They told me the week before I got there it was in the 70's.

I'd say don't go in the summer. It's scorching hot.
I'm used to heat but don't enjoy it on vacation in the desert where there is no beach around.
May was okay. Hot but bearable and the pools are refreshing.
I went end of June once and never again.
Too hot for even this Floridian.

We have stayed at the HGVC/Flamingo several times back when it was connected to the Flamingo ( prior to Harrah's taking over the Flamingo ). We have also stayed at the Cancun 3 times and the Wyndham Grand Desert.

The HGVC/Flamingo is our favorite by far, mainly due to the location.

Our second choice would be the Cancun because of the pools but it is a few miles to the strip which is a problem for some people.

The Wyndham Grand Desert is nice but the location isn't nearly as good as the HGVC/Flamingo and the pools are just average at best.

We have only stayed in Vegas twice, First was the Aladdin Hotel & Casino which is now Planet Hollywood. It took more than 20 years to go back again. It was so hot, that it hit 129 degrees. We did not want to go back after that. We heard so much about how great it was there now so we booked he Marriott Grand Chateau which was still new. We went during January, It was nice during the day but freezing even with winter jackets. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPXdfUk9_nA

Frank, Las Vegas has never hit 129 degrees.

"The highest temperature ever recorded in Las Vegas was 118F in July, 1931."

I just listed the timeshares we have stayed at in Las Vegas. We have also stayed many many times at Caesar's Palace, The Paris, Flamingo, Southpointe, Silverton, etc.

I've been to Las Vegas in August (too hot, wouldn't go back again at this time), in March (very pleasant) and April (also very pleasant). I prefer to go when I can walk around, it was just too hot in August to do that.

We love to go in October or May, when it is not too hot. We have stayed at the following resorts:

                        Jockey Club
Summer Bay (now Holiday Inn Resort)
                        Polo Towers
                        Grand Desert
                        Grandview

Our very favourite Is The Grandview. Although it is the farthest from the central strip, we love the proximity to Southpoint Casino. We are booked there for a week this fall. It will be our fifth time staying there.

I remember 129 and not being able to get in the pool cause of the heat on the floor. Or feeling my shoes melting walking across the street. Maybe they said feels like 129. The number 129 was said and I never forgot it.

My son owns at the Jockey Club and we went there last April. We loved it. He owns a large one bedroom. Great unit and the location can't be beat. We'll be there with him again this July. It will be hot but we'll stay inside.
