  • Sedona Roadwork?

We'll be coming to Sedona next Thursday afternoon to stay at Arroyo Roble. Is there still roadwork on 179? If so would we be better off coming up thru Cottonwood?

Appreciate if anyone out there has some info.

    Thanks, Bill

Take 179....road work is planned, but the delays keep pushing the date back....even if there is a lane closed, it is still prettier to be in traffic on 179!

Thanks, that's what I was hoping to hear. This is our fifth visit to Sedona and I agree that the scenery coming thru Cottonwood is pretty drab compared to 179.

Since you will be staying at AR, I definitely would recommend the 179 access. There is some "movement" of road prep and such, but I don't think you will be risking any long delay should it actually start next week....there are promises that no delays will last very long when they have to stop a lane of traffic....so, be carefree and drive on in, enjoy the views. Monsoon has been doing some wonders to the state, and temps have been moderating thru-out! Let me know if I can help with anything else!

          Katiemack, thanks again.

As many times as we have been there we still haven't seen or done everything. We plan on going to Palatki, Slide Rock, and the museum which will all be new to us. Plus the usual hiking trips, the cathedral, Jerome and of course shopping at "the lock your pocket book."

For a special treat, Bill, you might want to make reservations to have cocktails and "horses" at Enchantment Resort's Bar and Grill....outside....at sunset time....it is a special treat!

I'm looking at enchantments website now. What are "horses" and which of the three restaurants are you refering to? Also how dearly is this special treat going to set me back?

              Thanks

We just refer to it as the Bar and Grill/outside patio...but it is probably known as Tii Gavo...when we go, we get a drink each, the fruit plate and maybe one other "appetizer" (that is the horses...kids used to refer to hors-doerves as horses)....and with the tip and tax it may have come to about high $38. for the afternoon. They are generous with the portions.

                  Thanks,

We may give this a try, it looks from their website to be a very elegant place and with a spectacular view.

Leaving in 2 days, can't wait

Bill, be sure to call Enchantment to make reservations, it is a gated entry, and they will ask "your business" before allowing you in....also, just outside the gate is the trail head for Boynton Canyon walk to the ruins, about a 3 mile hike, if you like hiking....beautiful!
