I called and they said that they are planning to open on March 28, 2007. Guess it will have to wait till next time for them.

Doesn't anyone think the price is a bit high to walk on the Skywalk? Prior to reading about the price, I wanted to do this. Well... that is, if I could gather up enough courage.

Now, the price will be the main reason keeping me from walking on this thing.

Visitors who are not faint of heart and willing to pay $75.00 each can get a bird's eye view of the canyon fom the horseshoe-shaped walkway.... Visitors will have to pay $49.95 per person to enter Grand Canyon West, then another $25.00 per person to go on the Skywalk.

Yes, I think that the price is a bit outragious. I can understand the $25 to walk out on the walkway but $50 to get in to that part of the canyon first makes it a bit stiff.

I could understand the $25 to do it...but the extra $50 to get into Grand Canyon West gives me pause.

The Grand Canyon National Park's South Rim viewpoints are at about 7,000 feet, the North Rim, at close to 9,000 feet. The Hualapai's Skywalk is to down to 4,000 feet.

Has anyone done this recently? If so, did you take a tour and was it worth it?

We went with my son and DIL last year. It is not a tour per se. You cannot take your personal vehicle past the entrance area. After paying to get into the "park" you then go inside to find you have to pay a good amount to ride their bus to 3 stop off points. No other choice. At the stop where the walkway is, you pay yet again if you want to walk out. My son and DIL did, said it was great (and very scary). Now I am wishing I had as well, because I will most likely never go back there. There is a small discount for veterans.

Be warned the good drivable road through the town before you get to the crappy road, is a huge ticket trap for their police! HEFTY fine. Speed changes from 50 to 35 in an instant, with hidden cop ready to write...
