  • Sedona: Take HWY 260 for a while, Rather than HWY 179

Well, it has begun, the problems that WERE NOT supposed to happen with the road into Sedona....an accident, confused flag people, inaccurate signage....the traffic into Sedona along Hwy 179 before the Village of Oak Creek was backed up for miles today.

Recommendation: If you are coming into Sedona for a timeshare in the city of Sedona (i.e.: Villas of Sedona, Arroyo Roble, Sedona Summit, Fairfield, Hyatt, Los Abrigados, Sedona Springs), come in via RTE 260 to Hwy 89A, thru West Sedona.

Hwy 260 is the Camp Verde/Cottonwood exit off I-17, around Exit 285....go north on 260 to meet 89A, turn right at the Home Depot, follow 89A into Sedona.

If you are staying at the Ridge, you will be better off bearing the traffic jams, and come in thru Hwy 179.

As things change, I will try to keep you informed.

I will try to have another update early this week! Will you be coming in the Fri/Sat or Sun before Thanksgiving, or another day? Los Abrigados will be having their extravaganza, Red Rock Fantasy. If you like festive lights and displays, you might want to check it out. The actual dates of RRF are Nov 16 to Jan 1....for info click http://www.redrockfantasy.com/

        week before

        KatieMack,

We're coming in the weekend before. Staying at Cave Creek.

Going to visit Grand Canyon one day, Sedona another (Will definitely stay for the Red Rock Fantasy) and visit the Frank Lloyd Wright house.

How is the Turkey day parade at Fountain Hills?

          VV,
Sorry, I don't know much about Turkey Parade at FH, but it is probably good fun!

You will be doing lots of driving on your trip if you plan to use Cave Creek as your base...but the drive is beautiful, for the most part. When you say you are doing the Frank Lloyd, I am guessing you mean Taliesin in Scottsdale, right?

His son also helped to design a famous landmark in Sedona, The Chapel of the Holy Cross....but if the traffic continues to be harsh, it is a challenge to get to right now.

If I can help with any questions, just let me know.
