Do you need a car if you are staying at the HGVC/Flamingo in Las Vegas? If not, how do you get to and from the Airport? If wanted to rent a car for a day, is there a car rental agency at the Flamingo and if so, which one. My wife and daughter will be there from Tuesday night, November 21 till Saturday morning, November 25.

We were there in August and we got a car because: we have two little kids, it was hecka hot and, we are lazy. You don't really need a car if you just want to visit other casinos. The Flamingo is in a great location. However, we did take side trips to see the red rocks and hoover dam. From the airport, you can take a shuttle. I haven't done it in years but it was very reasonable.

Do they need a car? No. Will they *want* one? Your guess is as good as mine. Depends what they will be doing. If they will only be "On the Strip," and not taking any side trips or going shopping, then they can do without it. But it does get cold and windy sometimes in November, so it could be cold walking at night. And taxi queues can be fierce. Parking is free in the casino garages, or at valet, where I generally tip $2. Having a car lets you go when and where you want to go, including the grocery store.
If they don't have a car, they can take a Bell Trans shuttle (mini bus) to the timeshare, or a taxi. If they take a taxi, tell them to make sure to tell the driver that "They don't want to go through the tunnel," ie, they don't want to be "long hauled."
If it were me, I'd rent a car. There's a whole 'nuther world out there besides the strip. Red Rock Park, the new Red Rock Casino. Outlet Malls, Museums, Fremont Street, etc. But that's me.

I have been to Vegas 20-25 times, and never rented a car. Traffic on the strip is horrendous. It's about $15 with tip by cab from the airport, and less with a shuttle. The Flamingo is in a great location. When you look at the linked map, it's about 1 mile from Flamingo Road to Tropicana Avenue. If they are in half-way decent physical shape, the walk isn't too bad; especially in the cooler season. Often we would take off in one direction going from one casino to another, and then cab back for around $6. Yes, when a show lets out, the Que for a cab is long, but so is getting out of the parking deck with all the traffic on the strip.

That's "one Las Vegas mile," right? Actually its only "two Las Vegas Blocks" if you want to get technical. You're measuring from the far corner of Flamingo Road to the near corner of Tropicana, right? Not from the inside of the timeshare to the inside of any casino...THAT could add another half mile or more... Sure, many people walk it. But after the show, with the temps in the 50's and possibly windy? No thank you, not me. I can get from Tropicana back to the timeshare in under ten minutes from that corner, once I have my car. I park at the valet at the Trop, and then head east on Tropicana and north on Koval. If I'm going home, I can be there in under 20 minutes. East on Trop, right on Paradise, thru the back of the airport, and on to the Beltway...man, I love it here. When I lived in the Bay Area, I lived 66 miles from SF, and if I was ever there after 2PM it took me 2 hours to get home.
