Hi, Riverdees,
I would suggest they take I-17 to the Cottonwood exit, Hwy 260, north to HWY 89A (make a right at 89a...Home Depot is on the corner..left side)....take 89A into West Sedona, beautiful views along the way....Villas of Sedona will be on their right, about mid-center of West Sedona. At the intersection where Walgreens is, she should keep alert, as the next traffic light after Walgreens is where she will turn, Mountain View, turn right, short distance down the block, on the right, she turns into The Springs Resort, the lobby is there on the left, check in for Villas of Sedona right there. (EDIT: it is North View, not Mountain View....sorry....Mountain Shadows is the road opposite to this one, you turn right at NORTH View).
As for Grand Canyon, depending on the weather...if clear, dry and no snow...take HWY 89A thru the switchbacks, past Slide Rock State Park....that will be a right turn out of the resort on 89A....follow the road thru Uptown, and the switchbacks are just above the city...it is a two lane road that climbs thru the canyon of Oak Creek. Again, pretty.
Once at the top, follow signs for I-17, it will be a right turn around Pulliam Airport, the Coconino County Fairgrounds....cross over I-17, turn left to get onto the Freeway. Follow it until it merges into the city of Flagstaff (this is the main Rd. that will lead you to HWY 66)....drive this and when you pass the Barnes and Noble, be sure to make your way into the left lane as you follow the curve of the road, you will pass under a RR trestle, and the road you are looking for on your right is HWY 180, Humphreys...turn left...follow 180 all the way up and then follow the signs for the Grand Canyon, Tusayan and South Rim area (there will be a right turn at the interesection for Tusayan).
On the way up, she might want to keep an eye out for the Chapel of the Holy Dove, a quaint little rustic spot on the right just above Flagstaff.
Also, the White Buffalo is a good spot to stop, browse and use a facility...they charge 50 Cents.
Hope this helps...and I haven't forgotten to stop in to the VOS to ask about units, but life is hectic here right now!
When does she arrive?
