  • Summer Bay Resort - Big News

Just received a letter from the HOA stating, in part:

Your BOD has unanimously approved a settlement with Harrah's which will result in moving the current resort facilities to a much newer, larger and dramatically improved complex, agreeing to swap the 658-unit Desert Club for our current 489 units. Harrah's has also agreed to provide $29 million to upgrade the Desert Club to RCI Gold Crown Standards. As an added benefit, the revenue generated from the sale and/or rental of these extra units will be used by your Resort Owner's Association to help fund operating costs and stabilize maintenance fees at the new resort for years to come. When the renovations are complete, the New Summer Bay Resort at Desert Club is expected to have a new clubhouse, beautiful pools, several workout facilities and a new service and administration building.

    I am so psyched!

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I was worried when I heard Harrah's was sold that this deal would fall apart. I purchased 3 2br units on eBay in August/September hoping this scenerio would come true. Such a small investment brings joy to my heart. I wonder if the trade value will increase when the resort goes GC. I have 2 units deposited, one with RCI and one with TPI. We have reservations for April 2007, hope the renovations will be well under way by then so we can check out the "New Summer Bay Resort at Desert Club."

That is great news...congrats owners. Be sure to stay on top of how the HOA is spending the money they get.

Yes, it's the same resort. It's old and tired now.
The new location is across Koval, which is a less desirable location because it is further from the strip, but it will much nicer.

Great news, I wonder when you will be able to stay at the new action - will the old location remain in operation until then???
