  • Las Vegas, New & Different

If you're like me, you don't want to spend all the time in the casinos or on the Strip. So if you have a car, you might be interested in this...

Albertson's Supermarkets has opened a Kosher Supermarket inside the brand new Albertson's in Anthem (Henderson). You can read about it here. Its a wonderful place, a market within a market. It is one of only five in the US that Albertson's and Supervalu have in the US. There is a separate Kosher bakery, deli, meat market, fish, grocery (two long aisles, and a huge freezer section), and also a huge kosher wine section. They have the only truly kosher sushi section in the Vegas Valley as well as daily fresh kosher friend chicken and rotisserie chicken.

In addition there is a big "international foods" section, which includes a special English and Irish section. The store is really interesting, and you could spend a long time looking at everything.

If you are interested in going, take I-15 South to St. Rose (exit # 27), go east to Eastern Avenue. Take Eastern (left land) into Anthem (you will see the road split). You will be on Anthem Parkway then. Go up and around about four miles or so, till you get to Bicentennial. There is a CVS on the corner there. Turn Left, and Albertson's is on your right.

Oh, and if you are in the neighborhood, give me a holler!

Fern...That's the kind of tip I'd want to know about if I were heading to Vegas and staying in a timeshare.

On a similar note, folks are often asking what to do in Atlanta. We've got a fantastic, huge, internationally-flavored shopping experience as well. Check it out: http://www.dekalbfarmersmarket.com/

        Carol,
Your market sounds like the sort of place I'd love to see. I've been to open air markets and international markets in any number of countries. Plus I've been to one of every brand of Supermarket in Mazatlán over the years. The recent MazInfo poll gives the crown to Gigante, btw.

Fern - I guess I was like you on my first visit to Vegas - I kept asking why we couldn't go to the Chamber of Commerce and see what ELSE there was to do in Las Vegas besides gamble. But that was years ago and times have changed - there are now so many casinos that we can't get to all of them in one visit let alone do anything else
