Highway 89A from Sedona to/thru Oak Creek Canyon and up to Flagstaff is now open.
The Highway 179 Project continues to be ongoing, the traffic flow is intermittently bogged down, the worst times appear to be when construction workers are present, holidays, or big events. The areas of stoppage are from about 6 miles from I-17 thru to just below the Y intersection, around Hillside Shops. There are several areas of construction along 179, some are for roundabouts, some for utility work, some for trucks hauling on and off the road, and some prep work for a utility change.
If you do choose to come in along Highway 179, try to do it during the daylight hours if you are not familiar with the road, you will find road shifts and concrete barriers along the way here and there....in the dark it will be a bit more challenging.
If you want to avoid Hwy 179, take Highway 260 to 89 A thru Cottonwood, exit 286 off I-17. That route takes you into West Sedona more easily.
