  • Let's get some recommendations on the tours you have taken in Sedona

    Hi,

Many of you have visited Sedona and have taken tours with various companies.

What tour do you recommend and why?

    I will start,

We have taken the Pink Jeep Tours known as Broken Arrow and Scenic Rim...both were enjoyable not just for the views but for the fun-spirited and knowledgeable guides we had.

If you take a jeep tour, be sure to dress appropriately and bring water. The jeeps can drive thru rugged terrain, it can get dusty, windy, hot, cold, and it can rock and roll a bit. Ask your concierge/reservations agent/driver how rugged the terrain will be. If it is winter or summer, dress appropriately to the season. The jeeps have a roof, but are open air, and they have some cushioning, but not a lot, for your riding comfort.

They do charge for no shows, and if the weather is really bad they will reschedule you, but I know they usually don't do that frequently, even if there are predictions of snow, rain, wind, freeze. Be sure to understand the cancel policies!
Life is short, live it with this awareness.

Our family took a trip out to the Red Rock State Park. It has a lot of nice easy hiking trails with beautiful views. Not exactly a tour, but it gives you a very nice flavor of the Sedona Red Rocks.

Edited to add a link to the park site: Red Rock State Park

I would suggest the trolley tour when you first get to Sedona. For $10 it gives you a nice overview of the area, and you stop at a couple of sites. I believe the tour lasted about 90 minutes.

We did the Grand Canyon Total Experience Tour with Great West Tours. I strongly recommend it. We booked the tour through the concierge at Los Abrigados t/s resort and received a 10% discount. The tour picks you up at the resort in the morning and brings you back at night. The tour was in a mini-bus that was very comfortable. We saw and did everything that we wanted plus some.

Sedona Arizona Tours, Grand Canyon Tours and Colorado River Rafting Adventures. Best Value, best buses, best tours...guaranteed!

The GC is of course a very popular sight that visitors to Sedona want to include in their visit. Great West Tours is definitely worth checking out.

I did a number of tours while in Sedona. These are the ones that I would suggest.....

Broken Arrow Jeep Tour & Grand Canyon Tour

The Grand Canyon Tour was great, and I would highly reccomend it, if you have never been to the Grand Canyon.

              Have Fun!!!

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

We did the Verde Canyon Railway Tour. I didn't mention it because we were not very favorably impressed with it.

Pink Jeep is the biggest but I don't really feel that makes them any better than the other Top 3 jeep tour vendors in Sedona.
Pink Jeeps biggest advantage is they have a exclusive forest Service permit to conduct Jeep tours on Broken Arrow Road.

Red Rock Jeep has a Exclusive Forest Service Permit to conduct jeep tours
on Solider Pass Trail. I have used them and recommend them.

You can rent a Jeep and drive Broken arrow road or Solider Pass Road yourself. I have done this on Broken arrow and if you stick to the main road/trail and don't get crazy you can do this pretty easy. I don't recommend getting off the main trail unless your experienced. Jeep Tour drivers do this several times a day and are very experienced.

If you just want to the explore the area I recommend you stop at the Sedona Vistors Center when you buy your Red Rock pass and pickup at Map and guide to the areas many roads and trails. They can help advise you on where to explore.
The area has many dirt forest service roads that go to Trail heads and Indian Ruins sites. A passenger car can travel many but keep in mind they can get rough in some areas and may not be maintained yet after rains or storms.
Having a truck or Jeep will be a big advantage and allow you to continue on roads and trails where a passenger car could never travel.
