    Arroyo Roble

My DH, BIL and I are off to Sedona on October 20 - it seems like a long ways away now, but it is still in 2007, as the OP queried ...

We love Arroyo Roble, it is just about perfect for our needs and the types of things we like to do.

We are also spending a night in Phoenix to have dinner with DH and BIL's uncle, who will be 92 in July, and who is still as fit as a fiddle.

October is a great time to visit Sedona. The PleinAir Arts Festival is happening during that week.

Also, the fall colors can be really nice around the area. The air is dry, clear and a bit crisp at night, but still plenty warm during the day.

We aren't scheduled to go back (to the Arroyo Roble) until June '08, but my daughter and her husband are going for the first time in August and will stay at Los Obrigados...working on school schedules...

I'm actually going the end of June over the 4th of July for a week. It will be my family's first visit there! I picked this vacation spot just from reading all the posts here and on TUG on how beautiful it is there. So I thought I had to see it for myself. When it came where to stay I posted on here last year and asked for all of your help on what choices should i put down with SFX. I ended up getting a 2 bedroom with Sedona Springs. I have picked out all our activities, am going to the Grand canyon and staying overnight at the Kachina also. The only thing I still need help with our choices of restaurants. So if anyone has suggestions they would be greatly appreciated!
P.S. Thanks Katiemack for all your links and insights they have been so helpful for me in planning out this trip.

            2 months to go

My family is driving from the Bay area to Carlsbad for a week starting 6/17, then staying at the Hyatt Pinon Point in Sedona for 4 nights, then on to the Grand Canyon for two nights, then a marathon drive back to the Bay area. We have never done such a road trip before. I am excited, although hope my kids behave in the car.

My wife and I will be staying at the Shell Vacation Club @ The Legacy Golf resort from May 3 till May 6. We booked this through our FF plus partners points account and will be there for our son's graduation (MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale). Actually have a pretty busy few days with cocktail receptions , graduation ceremonies and a Graduation celebration party at the Four Seasons Resort...Saturday we will relax a little before flying home (to Ohio) Sunday..I am sure we will be back in some AZ resort in the next 12 months probably to visit son who is beginning a Job with JP Morgan (Asset Management division in Scottsdale) ..Tom

Our summer weeks in Tahoe and Sedona are actually back to back. I think we will cut Tahoe short a day or so to come home in between. I hope I behave in the car-LOL

We will be at Canyon Villas in early November - have never been to AZ before - looking forward to just hanging out at the pool, including at the JW, with the kids (ages 5, 8 and 10), jeep tour, cowboy show/ cookout, maybe hot air balloon ride, etc. (Am a bit worried by some of the comments about CV, above - its rated very highly and got some great reviews OY - but I am generally not too picky anyway).

We stayed at the Legacy February 2006. What we enjoyed was the outdoor bakery/cafe near the Legacy. Can't remember the name. But you simply turn left out of the Legacy and it will be on your left in a block or two.

                      Hope

Laurie, It's my pleasure to be some help! So you are most welcome!

As for restaurant choices, How many will be in your party?

Did you see the thread Restaurants, where folks mention their favorites.

What type of food do you like? Atmosphere? Budget?

Katiemack, There will be 4 Adults and 2 teenage girls going. We are thinking casual, probably around $25.00 pp. Having never eaten at any restaurants in Sedona is this doable? We also love Mexican too. We are thinking of going to see Jerome is there a recommendation for something there, even hamburgers would be okay for there too. I'll also check out that link too.
                          Thanks again, Laurie

                            Gracey,

You are in luck....there are many Mexican restaurants in Sedona. One of our favorites is El Rincon in Tlaquepacque (near Los Abrigados.)

Many here on the board love Javelina Cantina, in Hillside Shopping area.

Pizza Picasso and Pizza Heaven are also favorites with locals.

The Coffee Pot restaurant is a locals hangout, great for breakfast or lunch.

Joey Bistro in Los Abrigados is a good spot for Italian food, and they have an all you can eat pasta night, which I think is Monday or Tuesday...but better check on that.

Jerome has several good casual eateries, hamburgers, sandwiches...some folks like Jerome Brewery...but there are several places to choose.

For casual, affordable, not fancy, there is JB's restaurant in the Basha's shopping area.

Also, in Basha's grocer, the deli area, the chef makes hot plate specials each day, and that gives you some bang for the buck.

Judy's Restaurant has been around a long time, but it has lost its sparkle for us.

In the Uptown area, Orchards restaurant offers some good plates for all 3 meals.
Life is short, live it with this awareness.

We will be going to Sheraton Desert Oasis for a long weekend in October (Columbus Day weekend). (Anyone want the last few days??? I think we leave Tuesday and checkout is Friday.) This will be our first trip to Arizona, so I am soaking up all these tips! Keep 'em coming!
