  • So, you want to go to a rodeo when you visit AZ?

Okay, This thread is not started to get a flame going....whatever your opinion about a rodeo might be, they still exist, and some folks want to see them when they visit the west...I have been to a rodeo, and the horse riding contests are what draws me there...you never have seen riding until you see a cowgirl lead her horse thru that competition...it is quite a skill!

Prescott Frontier Days June 29 to July 4 2007

Since 1888 folks have come from miles around to see what the ruckus in Prescott, Arizona was all about.
Every year that ruckus gets bigger, the contestants more daring and bold. When the bulls, the horses, the clowns come to town...well, let's just say you'll want to see what's kicking up all that dust.
Without giving away the show, we can tell you it's about top athletes competing for big dollars. It's about broncos throwing their hooves any which way, bulls that are mad at the world, and leather straps holding cowboys together.
    It's about time you came to the Prescott Frontier Days®, Inc. 2007 World's Oldest Rodeo®. We're the world's oldest, and we're happening June 29 - July 4, 2007

    Where's Prescott?

I will be driving Sedona to Grand Canyon on June 29. Is Prescott on the way?

Prescott is South and west of Sedona, it is not between the drive to GC from Sedona.

It is approximately a one and a half hour's drive to the town square in Prescott. There are 2 ways to get to Prescott from Sedona, one is "over the mountain" (driving 89 A thru Jerome, into Chino Valley, and on to the main part of Prescott.

The other way is taking I-17 to Hwy 169 to Hwy 69 thru Prescott Valley, on into Prescott.

Then I think we will skip the rodeo, as 2 days in GCNP is very little altogether.

Prescott is a very nice little town. We ended up there by accident one day and had a very nice time and ate a lovely dinner at a micro-brewery.

I wish we had been there for the rodeo. I think it is the oldest one in America.
