Okay to come in thru I-17 exit 298
Hi Folks,
Traffic is okay, not great, but okay. You will find a delay or two occasionally, from the area about 2 miles south of the main area of the Village of Oak Creek on Hwy 179. From the Hilton/Ridge area, it can be slow, but does move....might take a couple of traffic stops to get thru the intersections as the road is being worked on at corners on the west side now, putting in some more roundabout configs.
The first roundabout is open, and it is past Bell Rock, about 5 miles from the Hilton on Hwy 179. The roundabout is at the Back o Beyond area....it requires all persons who approach the roundabout to yield to the vehicles already in the roundabout.
There will be a second roundabout opened near the Hilton, I believe, next.
From the Village to the BoB roundabout, you will find it okay, with some construction trucks, and occasional stops because of construction, but the bulk of the construction is still in the Village.
From BoB to Sedona Tlaquepaque, it is okay, but from Tl on thru the Y, at night, there is some road work, but only at night from what I have heard.
The business access along the major area of construction continues to be a challenge, and there is some difficulty finding streets on the West side of HWY 179, as they tear up the intersections.
Be very careful if driving in at night, as there are some weakly designed "barriers" as things are constantly changing, and the road configurations are always in flux.
I no longer see a need to use the alternate route thru Hwy 260...while it is a bit slow on 179, it is doable, and a bit safer than it had been a few months ago.
I do caution you to take your time if driving at night, as the road can be dark and difficult to anticipate.
Hope you have a great trip! Enjoy the weather and the scenery! And stay safe!Life is short, live it with this awareness.

Thanks so much for the update, katiemack. Sounds like we're going to access this construction quite often since we're staying at The Ridge. Luckily, we are arriving early. It will give us plenty of time to get familiar with Sedona's surroundings and construction.
Thanks, again.*.¸¸.·´¨`» Trish «´¨`·.¸¸.*

Well we did the drive up to sedona from canyon villas this morning. We got into town early enough (prior to 8 am) that the construction didnt cause any real delays. And boy what unbelievable scenery on the drive in - our pink jeep tour guide told us that the drive in on 179 is ranked as one of the top 10 scenic drives in the country and I can certainly believe it - it was simply stunning. On the drive back down to phoenix though (we left Sedona around 1 pm) there was definitely a fair amount of construction going on close to town, and there were some delays, but it wasnt too bad - I would estimate it added another 15 to 20 minutes to our drive, max.
Took the pink jeep broken arrow tour - not to be missed, the scenery was just breathtaking. And the weather! Being from the mid atlantic east coast, we have only a handful of glorious days like this each year - sunny, warm but not too warm, no humidity, slight breeze - just wonderful. I could get used to this!
