  • Sam Rayburn Country Club?

I can't find a review less than 3 or 4 years old. I know it's not going to be a popular place, but surely somebody goes there! We're newbies and were given a couple of RCI bonus weeks, and my husband just got promoted which changed his seniority on vacations and we had 48 hours to choose our vacation dates for the year, so we don't have a whole lot of choices. We want to go somewhere we can drive to, also, from Houston, so that all adds up to not many choices. I would really like to hear from somebody who has been there in the past year or so, please. Thanks.

    Absentee owners

Re: >>....surely somebody goes there! <<

I know several people who own here for no other reason than to establish a "points" ownership for relatively low cost and low maintenance fees. None of them have ever even set foot on the place, none of them ever intend to.
So I don't know WHO actually goes there when even the owners don't........

        Marla,

If you are looking a trip, try the Royal Tennis and Beach Club in S Padre Island. I've noticed some availability recently.

It's about 6 hours drive from Houston.

          Thanks, Mike

I'm trying to use one of the bonus weeks I was given when we purchased, and it doesn't pull much, so that wasn't one of my options.

I definitely want to head to S. Padre at some point in the future though, so thanks for the recommendation.

Marla, have you tried Reviews of vacations, hotels, resorts, vacation and travel packages - TripAdvisor for reviews? You could also just Google "Sam Rayburn Reviews"

              It's Rayburn Country Club Resort

Part of the problem could be you are looking for the wrong name. it isn't SAM Rayburn it's Rayburn Country Club Resort.

Yes, I own one of those small entry to points packages there and no, I've never seen the resort. We came within a 100 miles a couple years back but couldn't justify the extra time & travel to see it.

Thanks, Judy. I hadn't checked that particular site, although I have now and found nothing, but I had checked this forum and TUG, and googled for reviews and the most recent I was able to find was 2004.

Ah! You're correct! But that didn't bring me any additional reviews, either. I think in most cases I had just googled "Rayburn". Thanks for the reply, though.
