Well, the Highway 179 traffic delays have lessened considerably, although the road improvements continue to send dust and dirt flying!
The main area where a possible delay will be likely is just south of the Village of Oak Creek, but the crews are working hard to keep the delays to a minimum.
The 2 mile stretch of the Village of Oak Creek business district continues to have concrete barriers and major work being done, but the traffic lights seem to allow for the smooth flow of traffic, with minor delays if traffic volume increases.
The weekends have improved greatly with regard to traffic delays.
Once folks pass Bell Rock, just north of the Village of Oak Creek on Highway 179, there are a couple of possible areas of delay, where work continues on traffic roundabouts. However, we have not experienced much in the way of a delay near this area, although the area is a bit confusing.
It should be a smooth enough journey in daylight into Sedona using the Highway 179 exit and if you find yourself coming at night, just be sure your headlights work well, as there are some unexpected construction challenges for about 10 miles of the road, which would be just a little south of the Village of Oak Creek to just a bit above Chapel Road.
