  • Anyone have more info on Inverness at Walden II?

I've been thinking about getting one or more weeks at Inverness at Walden II, whose HOA has weeks available. (See this thread.) I called about a week ago, and there are still some summer one bedrooms left, although not Weeks 26 or 27 (July 4th.) The two bedrooms are mostly gone.

What's keeping me from jumping in is that I don't know much about the resort's condition. If the resort needs work, a "free" week may not be that great a deal. I got a cheap HOA week from Foxrun a while back, and then Foxrun started talking about a possible $1500 special assessment. I'd like to avoid running into that problem again!

So, does anyone know anything about the condition of the resort? I spoke to the management company (Koch Management), who said I should ask the HOA board. Koch Management didn't have any contact information for the HOA, and suggested that I call the resort. No one was at the resort when I called, so I left a message. Tina at the resort called back and left me a message on my answering machine, saying that she didn't know how to contact the HOA, but that I could get that information from (you guessed it) Koch Management.

This doesn't inspire confidence, but maybe the people I spoke to just weren't well-informed. So, has anyone actually seen this place? Anyone know how to contact the HOA? There does not seem to be a website for this resort. Only one person on TUG is listed as a contact for this resort (in the reviews area), and I had no success emailing him .The newest reviews I can find are 5 years old, and the resort was only rated about 5.5 on TUG. It had a Silver or Gold Crown rating in RCI at one time, but no longer does.

    Judy,

I think the best thing for you to do is to contact its management company directly. Here's the email for contact.

(This management company also manages the South Shore Lake Resort in Hot Springs and their office is in Hot Springs).

Hi, Mike. Is that email for Koch Management? I've actually spoken to Koch Management a couple of times; they say that I should speak to Tina at the resort, but that they're not sure that the resort will give out any information on how to contact the HOA board.

That sounds very strange to me -- prospective owners aren't allowed to get any information from the HOA Board? I've never heard of that before. I told the person I spoke to at Koch Management (Darlene) that my concern was whether the resort might need repairs that would require a special assessment; she said owners wouldn't necessarily be told anything about that until after the HOA voted on an assessment. I wouldn't buy a house if I wasn't allowed to know anything about the condition beforehand, and I don't see why a timeshare should be any different.

Well, maybe Tina at the resort just didn't understand my question. I tried calling a couple of times and no one was in at the resort, but Darlene said maybe Tina is out working on the property. I'll keep trying.
