  • Anyone from near Scottsdale? Need info please.

Our niece is moving to Scottsdale August 17 to do her internship at the Desert Botanical Gardens. She just finished Appalachian State in NC. Her friend let her known today that she cannot go with her. We are trying to find timeshares for her to stay in for a few weeks until she can find an apartment. Naturally the family is upset about her going alone. Her mother plans to drive out and help her, but we don't know much about that area. Luckily, they have at least been there for a few times on trips. Any help or info would be very appreciated. We have units in RCI and II to book for a few weeks for her but had rather book ones close to her job. Please make suggestions about resorts.

    Thanks for your help.

Sorry that I don't have really specific info for you. However, every Scottsdale timeshare that I know of is located in a safe and nice area. I know how scary it is to have a daughter moving to a state where she knows no one and the family isn't all that knowledgable about the state either! Been there/done that twice! With cell phones it's faily easy to keep in touch with her if she needs anything or if you just want to touch bases to see how it's going.

      Hi, Becky,

If you still are seeking advice, I would advise the Westin Kierland units, the Scottsdale Villa Mirage, or Sheraton Desert Oasis.

I prefer these three to most others in that general area, because they are well run, and I feel safe in these areas. The locations are also great for ease of access to major road Scottsdale Rd. which runs North and South, easy to get to Desert Botanical.

There are many choices of grocery, shops, restaurants. The activities in these areas have good lighting at night, and visibility with other folks because they are so popular and open, attracting many people of all ages.

Some other TS in the area may be just as nice in amenities or units, but are more remote or in "neighborhoods" that do not appeal to me or would not be as convenient.

      Hope this helps.

I should add: Scottsdale Links and Marriot's Desert Ridge to the above list.

I don't recommend Orange Tree, and while Scottsdale Camelback is okay, I don't think the location is ideal JMHO.
