Wyndham La Cascada

First impression:

This is a very upscale resort in downtown San Antonio. I have a 2BR deluxe for tonight and will have a 1BR deluxe on Friday and Saturday nights. I have been snapping lots of photos. I didn't bring my camera cable so I will have to post them when I get back.

The unit has granite tops in kitchen, upscale ceiling fans, 3 LCD HD TV's, Washer/dryer in unit, big jacuzzi tub in master bath. The master BR has a king bed. The 2nd BR has 2 full beds.

The pool is on the 6th floor with a great view of the downtown city skyline. The activity center is also on the 6th floor. There are 2 computers to use on the first floor. However, there is free wireless on the entire first floor. Also, there is a great looking pool table in the visitng, sitting lounge on the first floor.

With a separate entrance, there is a Hippo Grocery and Deli store in the building. It is a nice small store with everything you need. My glance at prices indicate that they are somewhat high but you pay for the convenience. They did have a $1.95 brownie that looked to die for.

Parking is all valet, $10 a day, 24 hour service. Any unit less than the 4 BR Presidential, you are limited to one car. A second car has to be parked off site in a nearby parking lot or garage.

My advice is that if you want to visit San Antonio, this is the place you want.

What unit are you staying in?
Have you walked to the downtown Riverwalk, yet? I read over on TripAdvisor this resort is not located in the very best of areas. They also advised not to walk anywhere at nights. Is that your feeling, too?

I gather there isn't internet access in the rooms? Dial up?

Is the pool heated? Is it crowded?

I think valet parking is pretty steep there. Do you know what the prices are at the nearby parking lot/garages? How far away are they from the resort?

Is there anything you dislike about the resort?

Have you walked to the downtown Riverwalk, yet? Yes. I walked to a Mexican food dive about 3 or 4 blocks away that one of the staff recommended for good cheap Mexican food. I read over on TripAdvisor this resort is not located in the very best of areas. They also advised not to walk anywhere at nights. Is that your feeling, too? No. It's 2 blocks from courthouse. The resort is on the river and has the Riverwalk path to the main areas. It is an urban area and I think one should always use caution. Each of us have our own tolerance and sense of security.

Rumor has it that I may be in Dallas early next year for a few days but unfortunately that is a hike from you or San Antonio.

The resort is very easy to locate in downtown. You exit Durango off of I-37 and travel about a mile to Dwyer and turn right. It's about 2 blocks down on Dwyer.

I didn't call before hand but the resort called me to let me know about the parking situation. I didn't make any requests but they were confirming my reservations.

I have an interest in Texas timeshares, because my son is currently stationed in Killeen, TX. When we go down to visit him, he said he'd rather join us in Austin, Dallas, or San Antonio. Not too much to do in killeen.

I will definitely keep this in mind. What exchange company, if any, did you use to get this resort? Thanks!!!!

I booked part of it directly with Wyndham since I'm an owner. A portion I went through a Wyndham renter because I didn't have enough points left for the year.
