I am meeting my friend for a 3 day getaway in Scottsdale and I have never been before. We are looking for recommendations for reasonably priced, fun, local restaurants (no chains) and a fun spa for facials, etc. that isn't expensive either. TIA!

Well, our resort has 20 minute massages for $120 and that is expensive to me as the going rate in SLC is $65/hour.
For restaurants, anything fun or different from the typical chains which is mostly what we have around here. I like fusion cuisine, anything ethnic, etc. I love finding "local" restaurants in the areas I travel -- they don't have to be fancy at all.
TIA!

This isn't too far from Scottsdale, north on Scottsdale Rd, into Carefree, on your left as you enter town.

Scottsdale
One of my favorite destinations! Spa treatments at any resort are going to run you $120 to $150 - it's the going rate, no getting around it. I have never seen a massage for $65 anywhere - but envy you. I'd go every week if that were available where we live.
If you have time for venturing out a bit, I HIGHLY recommend the Frank Lloyd Wright House. It is really tremendous. The tours are interesting, the grounds beatiful. I'm not a big FLW fan, but got a lot out of this tour and property. Here is a link for information on the property (Taliesen West) Welcome to The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation
Also, I am attaching a restaurant guide link for Scottsdale with critics picks. Look to the left hand side to choose your type of food. Critics' picks come up first.
