For most of the resorts in which you might be staying in Sedona, Highway 179 is your preferred route. Exit 298 off Interstate 17.
If you are staying at the Sedona Summit, you might prefer to take Highway 260 to Highway 89A north, and enter the West side of Sedona thru Cottonwood, but 179 is just as good a choice.
As construction on the stretch of road between Bell Rock and the Y intersection begins to crank up, 179 might be a bit more difficult to navigate, but at the present time, 179 is the better choice in general.
If you are coming from Flagstaff, you can take Highway 89a south from Flagstaff (near the Flagstaff airport), but be aware, this road is known as the "switchbacks" because it is a two lane (south/north) road which winds and twists as it drops through the elevation of Oak Creek Canyon.
Whichever way you come into Sedona, enjoy the ride and be safe!
