Off to Arizona i go

Well, leaving tomorrow for my first adventure to the valley of the sun.

I'll be staying at the scottsdale camelback resort which i have heard some pretty nice things.

I recieved some great advice from all you tsfrms posters ,ESPECIALLY KATIEMACK (on the road conditions around Sedona)

If i get a chance I'll post an update on whats going on.

What i thought was pretty funny was that as a current MARRIOTT owner I already recieved a phone call from them (to tour MCV - even though i'm not even staying at the Marriott property.) If I end up taking the tour I'll let you know what the current gossip around the sales floor is now.

back from my AZ experience

Well after an unbelievable trip to AZ (and about 1300 miles of driving around) it goes without saying what a beatiful state it really is.

Here's a quick rundown of what we saw.

The town of Jerome- pretty neat place to spend an hour walking around,views are awesome, drive to the top with both hands on the wheel.

Sedona- goes without saying- came in from the Cottonwood side of 89A so the drive was fine. Ended up driving all over anyway but the construction and traffic wasn't that bad around the "Y" (probably because it was a sunday)

Grand Canyon- pretty windy the day we were there but still simply awesome. Came in from Flagstaff up route 180- long but beautiful drive.
Construction on the hermit rest route has started so you could only get as far as Hopi Point. came back from the desert view end into Cameron Nice flat drive (forget about deer crossing signs and look out for wild HORSES as we almost found out.

Tombstone - pretty touristy not much to do. boot hill was alright to see but it's a toss up if worth the drive from Scottsdale / phoenix area.

Overall a great trip worth taking if anyone is thinking about going.(the drive along I-17 from scottsdale to flagstaff along with driving oak creek canyon itself is worth the trip.

Glad you had a good trip. I always enjoy AZ. We are going for two weeks in November.

Bluka, It sure looks like you should get an award for doing so much driving and seeing so much of the state in just one trip! Fabulous! You got a great overview of the differences between the Valley of the Sun, Northern AZ and Southern AZ.....glad you had such a "full" vacation, and thanks for the report!

The Y intersection at Sedona is in constant flux now, and traffic tie ups vary, from little to above 15 minutes and a mile backups....they are tearing up much of the road at Tlaquepacque now.
