  • Villas of Sedona, Sedona AZ

The Villas of Sedona had an open house today (and tomorrow). They have just redone 15 units and the rest are in the process. The units are very, very nice! Bathrooms have been retiled (shower/bath/floor) and counter tops in kitchen and baths are silestone. All new furniture - mission style. Condos with a loft area are getting murphy beds - as of today they hadn't arrived. Very nice upgrades to the resort.

    Thanks for posting.

We will be visiting them tomorrow, thanks for letting us know about the upgrades. If we have anything to add, we will!

We did get to stop in today, and visited the open house....it is a great upgrade to the place.

        Unfortunately we forgot our camera!

You will really enjoy what they have done! Very high quality, and it is totally redone. The bathrooms are very nice now, and the furnishings are rich looking. You will be very pleased. VRI did a great job!

does anyone know if they put the hot tubs back in?

If you mean did they put them into the units....no...the only hot tubs are the ones outside, and at the neighboring Sedona Springs.

Maintenance issues were the main issue with the tubs in the units as I understand it.

The baths have been converted into walk in showers and are very nicely done.

                Hi all,
I'm a newbie to this forum and am happy to have found you! Tonight I was looking at trading for this timeshare and am wondering if there are jacuzzis in the 1 br with loft units? or the 2 br units? Which units are better? I like the idea of a loft and the 2 br 6/4 doesn't have one. How are the views from the resort and units? Have any of you stayed at one of the sister resorts, Villas at Poco Diablo, and if so, how do they compare? (both are available to trade). Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you!!

                  Welcome to the site!

I don't think there are any jacuzzis in any of the Villas of Sedona...however, there are jacuzzi bathtubs in the Sedona Springs Resort, it is the sister resort, right next door.

The Villas refurbishment has taken all the baths and converted them to walk-in tiled showers....large and very nicely done.

As for views: Villas of Sedona and Sedona Springs are nestled in a bit, but some of the units might offer some views from certain windows. I know the gym and main building of Sedona Springs has nice views. The units surround the main building. It would depend on your location which unit got the better views.

As for Villas of Sedona, there aren't that many units who could have much of a view, except off the balcony for a couple if I am remembering the layout of the units.

But don't worry, you will be out and about all day, so having a view from your unit isn't such a big deal.

As for unit assignments, VRI reserves the right to assign you on check in....so you would be better off calling ahead to make special requests such as location and room configuration.

Villas at Poco is set in a nice location, but just south of town, between the main area and Village of Oak Creek. Lots of folks like it because it is considered a bit quieter, and has Oak Creek near it.

The other two, right in center of West Sedona, and very convenient to all activities, shopping and tours.

Let me know if you have more questions!

Thank you, Katie, for the warm welcome! We are looking forward to finally making it to Sedona...our trip was cancelled this Jan. when our son was hospitalized for a month, so we are trying to reschedule. By the time we get there, we will be REALLY ready for a vacation. I'm looking to escape the stress and have some couple-time, therefore the questions about the resort facilities and inroom jacuzzi lol. We are reserving through RCI and therefore won't likely have a choice as to unit assignment. At this point there are one bedrooms available at the Villas (as well as 2 bedroom at Sedona) and studio at the Springs and all would be plenty of space for the two of us. I do have a few more questions...is parking or traffic a problem in Sedona? The convenience of The Villas at Sedona or the Springs sounds great but so does the location of Poco. Do you know how the interiors in the one bedrooms of the places compare? Can visitors at Poco use the facilities at the other VRI resorts? I noticed that Poco was not Gold Crown. Finally, how is the weather in Sedona in Sept....somewhere I read that it was very HOT?? Decisions, decisions! lol Thanks for helping!

Niteowlpam, I am glad to help!

I hope your son is well now, and it sure sounds like you earned and will enjoy the trip!

If you are trading through RCI, my recommendation would be for you to try for Sedona Springs 2 BR if you can get it....the jacuzzi is there...I don't think Poco has that. While Poco is quiet, it wouldn't be our preference. But if you do stay at Poco, yes, you can use the other 2 locations amenities as well.

As for parking, at any of the resorts, no problem. If you are planning Sept, yes, it can still be HOT, and they have monsoons possibly (hopefully) still lingering in the air (that means quick sudden thunderstorms in late afternoon, usually, which are delicious...and it cools things down...very dramatic).

Sept is a popular month in Sedona. Sometimes there are art festivals or concerts or some big weekend happening. You will have fun.

Your unit is not assigned thru RCI, you will probably get some generic confirmation that says something like 2BR-Fr which means 2 bedroom with a checkin of Fr. When you know you have the confirmed dates, sometime in June or July call the front desk and make a request for something cozy, with a view and be sure to ask about the jacuzzi.

If you need anything special ...that is when you call VRI front desk and make the request. They have a nice front desk, and they are very helpful.

As for Poco and the Gold Crown, you don't need to put so much emphasis on the rating...it isn't a guarantee that a facility is all that wonderful anymore....it is just a rating based on comment cards....and even in some cases, we personally have found a few GC resorts that were just awful!

Actually, the best thing is to ask other people about a place...you could start a thread asking for people who may have stayed at the resort to give you an overview (unfortunately we haven't stayed there...so I cannot give you up to date information). Or call the VRI Sedona Springs number and ask...they will be honest with you.

The traffic can and may be a bummer....in June the Highway department is starting the major road improvement in Sedona on Highway 179 (that is the road that leads from I-17 into the main strip of Sedona). This will prove a challenge for all....tourists and residents. But ADOT usually makes it somewhat bearable when they do construction of this magnitude, so don't let traffic get you down.

However, because of the construction, that would be my second reason for you to skip Poco. It is located on Hwy 179....expect lines of traffic possibly there.

Again, feel free to email me or add more questions to this thread. To email me, just click on my name and you will get a drop down list. Have a great time planning the trip!

Jazz on the Rocks in September

Jazz on the Rocks will be held September 21 - 24, 2006 in Sedona - the 25th anniversary. The festival is held at the Radisson Poco Diablo Resort right across the pond from Poco Diablo timeshare. If staying at the timeshare you will be able to enjoy the music.

Wow....thank you both for the helpful info! After all of this, we have decided to postpone our Sedona trip. Fall just seemed a little too soon for us to both leave our son. But we looked into May 2007 and were able to book the Island Park Inn, 22 miles from West Yellowstone! That is one of the other locations "out west" that we have been wanting to see. And since our son can't be in any altitudes near 4000 ft. due to his heart condition, we have not seen much of the mountains...our plan is to make up for lost time and try to make exchanges near the nat. parks out west over the next few years (when we can leave him). I think we will save Sedona for another trip...it does sound lovely!! Tomorrow I leave for Florida though (Palm Beach Shores Resort and Vacation Villas) for an exchange with my sister for a few days while hubby holds the fort (what a guy!) She was diagnosed with lung cancer and we both need a break from this winter weather. So I got a last minute exchange 10 days ago! We are excited about the weather forcast of sun and temps in the 80's...yahoo!! What did we ever do without timeshares? lol I will post about it when I get back! Thanks again!

We have an exchanged confirmed for mid March, 2006. Should we call now with a request or wait till closer to check in time? We have a two bedroom that sleeps 8. Any recommendations on where to request?
