  • Sheraton Desert Oasis

We have a two bedroom and an one bedroom units via RCI for the first week of November, 2009. Any recommendations for location request that we should make and when we should make them. We are interested in a quite area.

My recs would be to ask for a building near the "adult quiet pool" and on a top floor....SDO is a rather compressed layout, meaning some buildings are rather close to others, so you could have a patio that looks across to the next building and feel rather close to the neighbor. But the units are pretty well designed, and we have never had any noise issues with adjacent suites. But we do try to always get a top floor.

The main pool is quite active, and very nice, but we prefer to be away from it as the noise level can be varied.

The adult pool is shaded and usually pretty calm.

      Do the buildings have elevators?

No elevators. If that is a problem, I would say just ask for by the quiet pool. It was so quiet when we were there the last time, we totally enjoyed it.

Every time we have stayed there we have had use of an elevator...they are rather "hidden" but there.

As for when to ask for the assignment, we have called as late as one week before and always had our requests honored.

There are elevators in the middle of each building and and as katiemack mentioned they can be hard to find. My first choice would be close to the adult pool. I think either the second or third floor would be fine.

I must be mistaken, but I have stayed there 3 times, and the buildings I have been in do NOT have elevators. I am assuming others are talking about the 3 story buildings. They are not near the adult pool, and I always request to be near that pool.

Yes, Ann Marie, you are quite right, the builidings, 2 story that surround the adult pool are without an elevator. I forgot that detail...thanks so much for clarifying that.

The 3 story buildings have elevators. The layout of the property is such that you can be near the adult pool, but not close to it...I was in error with my description. Thanks again!

There are rooms that have free wired high speed internet including a long ethernet cable in the room so you can hook up your laptop and sit practically anywhere in the living room comfortably. We were given the impression that not all rooms are wired, in December we were told we got the last one. In 2005, our room was not wired. There was access in the lobby then for a daily or weekly fee. We used NetZero then, in 2005 local calls were free. I can't remember if that is still true.

There are 2 computers for use, free in the lobby. Very rarely busy.
